Clutch Wrong: No Deal Imminent

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by NewGuy, Jan 14, 2001.

This is very dissapointing IMO but Clutch is wrong, there is no imminent or handshake deal with the Rockets.

A source within the Rockets organization told me that like always, there is a lot of talk going on, but nothing is anywhere close to being done. He specifically said that everything being said on those websites is completely false.

As opposed to telling you "Yeah, we're about to make a trade, hang in there... make sure you tell everybody! Spread the word!"

Maybe they don't want people to know about any possible trades. And I still don't think Clutch has said that there would definitely be a trade; just that there are rumblings going on and a bunch of rumors.

    New Guy,
Are you playing reverse psychology on clutch so he could throw more hints at you on who's involved on the upcoming trade? [IMG]

You guys are nuts. Clutch has yet to say there would be a trade. You're doing a dis-service to a bunch of people by implying that he's said anything. He had one "brace yourself" comment and that means there's definitely going to be a trade? Jesus, people... that one comment now has spawned into us getting SAR, Jordan to come out of retirement, and the rebirth of Wilt himself to join our team. Quit blowing stuff out of proportion... Clutch is a spectator just like all of us; if he has additional information, he obviously isn't going to spew it out in here unless he's been given the "ok".

I wasn't implying anything...only the fact that I get the feeling newguy is trying to squeeze more info from clutch on who's involved in the trade talks...THAT'S all....

Thanks for the defense guys... actually did you see that "brace yourself" comment turn in to Garnett and Shaq? Now that was funny.

I regret saying those two words. They were blown way out of proportion. Personally when I heard what was going on I thought it fit but it was overblown and imaginations ran wild.

I knew if it really did take a "week or more" that one or two would try to call me on it. NewGuy could have passed along what he heard without trying to embarrass me, but he didn't. As "DaFranchise", he's had problems in the past and the pansy ass is only looking to stir up problems or trying to get me to say more.

I've got information from a proven legitimate source -- the best one the page has ever had -- and I'm sticking to it. Everything he has said up to this point has made perfect sense. This does not go on the front page because it's a lot of behind the scenes stuff you can't put a finger completely on, but I do like to let the BBS gang know about it as I find out. I always have. I want to know everything just as badly as everyone else. If something drastically changes I promise I will let you know and if it's for the worse, I will take my lumps for getting any hopes up.

So, in other words, Francis and Mobley for Garnett. Right Clutch? [IMG]

I didn't forget, smeg. The second part of the trade is:

Garnett and MoTay for Shaq and Kobe [IMG]

He specifically said that everything being said on those websites is completely false.

What's specifially being said on 'those' websites? Did you take one of your dreamt up bs posts in that 300er to your source for validation?

Your post is pretty uncool NewGuy.

I can't tell you how many time I have heard GMs of baseball and basketball teams say that a deal isn't close and 2 days later the deal occurs. What was the guy supposed to say "Oh yeah that deal is going to occur, run and tell everybody!" Just curious though NewGuy, if you don't know what the deal is that Clutch and his sources are expecting, how can you shoot it down? That's like me saying that your house is a dump, yet I've never been there!

BTW, if anything Clutch isn't wrong. He's said this was a Doc Rocket scoop, and that it could possibly fall. Trades usually don't happen in a couple of days. Perhaps the scoop was wrong, but your post implies Clutch is a liar.

(Sources tell me a deal is in place for the ghost of Devean Gray for a conditional 2nd round pick).

    Pansy ass?

Granted I don't know who DocRocket is, but I can guarantee you my source is very very high in the organization.

And it wasn't brace yourself, it was "a handshake deal is in place" that made me think a deal was going to happen. That and it could be a week or so, I really got the feeling, as did a bunch of others, that a deal would go down.

I didn't mean this to insult you Clutch, I was just reporting what I had been told.

And I won't deny that something could happen, once again, I was just saying what I had been told.

Also, I was not one of the ones who mentioned Garnett or Shaq, but who cares if people want to dream? IMO that's what makes being a fan fun.

I can't believe you brought up that DaFranchise thing, once it got going I just kept carrying on because I was bored. Plus, when I said some things I shouldn't have probably, I apologized.

I'm not saying Clutch is a liar, I was just giving the post a title.

And I didn't make up any of those crazy trade ideas in the 300er either, I was simply asking about the trade that's apparently as good as done, I didn't mention any players, and he knew exactly what I was talking about. He said it wasn't true.

He might be lying, he might not be. Clutch may be right, he may be wrong. I just can't believe he or any of you are overreacting to my post as much as you should. All I was doing was reporting what a prominent member of the Rockets organization told me.

And knowing Clutch, his next post will probably provoke me some more until we have another DaFranchise incident.

Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy. You just told him to respond to you. Not a smart move, IMHO.

Good point, I think I did that last time and well, obviously DaFranchise lost posting priveleges.

Clutch, I said this after the DaFranchise thing, and now in the Listen... thread, please can we just bury the hatchet? I didn't even realize I was insulting you when I posted this, if it's that important to you, hell, I'll edit it.

I WAS NOT CALLING CLUTCH A LIAR IN ANY WAY

    NewGuy,

Clutch's rep here is far more important than any of ours. This site is far more important than any individual member within the site. When you come on here and say the guy that runs the site is wrong, that's not only a smack in the face of the site, but Clutch himself. What was there to gain by adding Clutch's name to the title? Just say that you heard from your source that there will probably be no trade. We'll look back and say, "Damn, that NewGuy was right".

As it is, if a deal involving the Rockets does happen to come down within the next week or so, you know somebody's going to start a thread that jumps all over you.

In your previous post in this thread you state,

    Then you say,

    That's umm... insulting.
When you say Clutch is "WRONG". That's insulting.

If someone says Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com fame is wrong, the public will flock to it. When someone says Joe Worker who works at Amazon.com in cube 312-B is wrong, nobody cares and nobody'll probably know about it.

Next time go to Clutch with the info or don't even mention his name in it. There's really no need to.
