Clutch please say it isnt so...I love Clutchcity.net with all of my heart. Please don't shut it down...is there anything we can do to help? I hope you can explain everything to us soon. Man I am gonna miss this place
Clutch'll fill everybody in. Man, it sucks but ah well, I suppose all (especially good) things must eventually come to an end. But it was apparent that with the little updating going on that something was up and this is it. I just want to thank everybody that I've run into on this bbs in real life or in chat or via various threads that it was cool exchanging banter on cc.net. Clutch, you did an incredible job on this site and I can't even begin to fathom or thank you for the amount of work you put into it. I wish you good luck on your future endeavor.
If somebody's coming in and shutting it down, then screw that person or entity. If it's Clutch's decision, I wish he would rethink, but he has that prerogative. If it's about money, we can raise it. If it's about the NBA, then can't you re-tool the BBS to have it more Hangout-centric and change the front page to some random news links with a lot of Rockets stuff thown in? That wouldn't infringe on anything, just like the Astros-Comets-Texans won't ever be b****ing about their forum here. But if you look at his announcement, it says "From 10/31/03 - 12/1/03." That's just a month, so it could be for maintenance/site-name-change purposes or something along those lines. However, Clutch's tone there is a little to solemn to not be disheartening though.
Naw, he wouldnt be playing with us like that. When they moved the .com to .net, he at least informed us about that. Looks like it really is going to be down.
Clutch, if you're retiring; is there no one that you can turn the site over to? I'm sure there's hundreds of people on this board that could maintain it for you, and we could raise funds for its rights to be sold to whomever if you need the monetary compensation. Ah well, I guess I'm reading a little too much into this. I should just shut up and wait for a nonspeculatory update.
This is a very sad day for Rocket fans everywhere. This site was not just a place to scatter random information, this was a family. I just can't believe I'll hit "Clutchcity.net" and get a "cannot find server" message from now on. Clutch - you did an amazing, thankless job, and you deserve about 2 million medals. God Bless, Go Rockets
R.I.P. Thank you Clutch, and crew, for all the hard work that you've done keeping this site running in one form or another since I started visiting 6 years ago. It's really a testament to you all that the site has lasted and prospered this long. Best of luck to you all.
with the number of fans this place has, I would be shocked not to see another site spring up if clutchcity.net goes down forever. I'm sure with the community this place has, it would be no problem to band together and fund a new host.
I feel especially bad for those people that haven't been around for at least one year, because they haven't truly experienced clutchcity, and don't really know how bad it is to give something like this up. Maybe if you guys were around longer, you'd know what this truly meant...
dang, this place is where i do 95% (maybe even more) of my internet surfing. GARM, Hangout, GARM, Hangout, back and forth. this is even my news source for pop culture. i see every little cool little flash game, article, etc there is on the net from here. i really hope it isn't shutting down, but if it is hopefully something will pop up in it's place and then when i have like 10 posts on the new board i can still harrass all the newbies and remind them of my 2700 or whatever over here and feel better about myself. plus, the rockets are just starting to get good. oh well, lets see what Clutch has got to say in the update.
This is a "Trick" right? As in "Trick or Treat?" (10/31) Hope that is the case... or that it's just getting a ".org" or different domain name.... Please oh, please just still be here tomorrow, that is to say, every tomorrow... until the end of the world. I'm praying you will still be around on the web, Clutch. Seriously.
i was wondering that too, but then again are they even separate? i know they have their own servers but since i know nothing about hosting websites i have no idea what that means.
Hey, that Rockets.com link in ragingFire's "fan council" thread mentions that: As a member of the Fan Council, you’ll meet with other members and front office staff approximately three or four times during the season. The rest of your discussions will occur via an online bulletin board. WTF is that about? Link
