First of all, apologies if this is the wrong area for this post. I just received the Clutch City video from a kind soul at half.com. Watching it last night brought up a number of questions: 1.) Why does something that occurred almost 10 years ago make me so happy? 2.) Has Yao seen this (and Double Clutch)? Has any other current player? Shouldn't they be required viewing, say, every night? (Note: I would be happy to surrender my copies if some angel can get me behind the bench/in the locker room/somewhere else near the players in LA xmas day. Hey, a guy can dream) 3.) How come Matt Bullard's hair never moves? 4.) Is there a tape with Pat Riley giving his "we didn't come this far just to lose" speech to the Knicks, just as Rudy gave his to the Rockets, and can I send a copy to every Knicks fan just for fun? 5.) Were the producers aware that the country music video at the end, "Walking Away a Winner," is about remaining a winner in spirit even though you've lost the game (lyric: "I'm walking away a winner from a losing game")? Memo: If you are producing a CHAMPIONSHIP video, it means the team in question WON THE GAME. 6.) Why will Hakeem never receive his due as one of the greatest centers ever? Surely the most agile ever. Yet no pundit/announcer/whatever mentions him when talking about the greats. (Yes, a true Rockets fan can find bitterness even in the heights of success.) Okay, I'm off to watch Double Clutch now...
I was also able to secure Clutch City and Double Clutch from a kind soul on half.com...now that i think about i might just watch them as opposed to tonight's probable debacle against the cavs.
a) Francis owns and has watched both championship runs frequently. Two years or so ago the team was watching one of the Knicks game on ESPN Classic, and Francis took a brief look, then described the next five minutes of play off the top of his head. b) There may be disagreements about the exact ranking, but everyone ranks Olajuwon as "one of the best centers ever." He may not be the first to come to mind by the talking heads, but they would still put him as one of the Top 10 centers, and top 20 players all-time.
