OK, let me say this first: You're going to hate me because this tells you nothing. This is pretty bad... I know.
Got an email from a rock solid source who overheard Rudy T at the Steve Francis press conference today talking about getting a certain player to Houston .... "how they needed to get the ball rolling and get on this". Apparently Rudy was very excited about trying to get this guy to Houston.

The source, who probably is my best one, said Rockets are "working on something as we speak" ... now at first I thought he was intentionally hiding who that player was to protect the situation but he really doesn't know who Rudy was referring to.

Anyhow, I combine this with a scoop I got a week ago and got more interesting yesterday and I might know who the player is (not overly exciting but a pretty good young player) ... however I've been sworn to secrecy on it until a certain time and I have to go by that.

Anyhow, I've been sick all day so this is the best I got

All I can speak on is the second half of that -- it was Austin Croshere. I've known for a long, long time the Rockets had a heavy interest in Croshere, but was asked not to post it until he was out of the playoffs. I was told also at that time not to underestimate the relationship between Fegan (Austin's agent) and the Rockets... something could be worked out.

I know also the Rockets were hopeful of something with Croshere as recent as 3 days ago .... but he's now a lock to re-up with Indiana.

I believe it's over 7 per. I think I might take Langhi at under a mil over Croshere for more-than-Cato money.

That is a lot of mullah, but I think Croshere will be an all-star next year and for many years to come.

Austin Croshere is not worth that kind of money. He may be in the future but he is not right now. I was all for the Rockets getting him, but not for that kind of money. I would much rather draft based on potential than get into a "free-agent auction" where the highest bidder gets a player who hasn't yet proven himself.

Dogbelly, I agree he may not be worth that now, but he soon will be.

I really like Croshere's game -- however, not at 7 mill. plus a year.......... i'm sorry the deal didn't work out for the Rockets.

I'm very surprised that Indiana came up with that kind of dough.....

Austin Croshere did not even have a great year last season! He was very good in the playoffs, but who knows what the future brings? I think that the Pacers, when Bender and Harrington starting kicking butt, are going to be sorry they signed Austin for so much money.

Clutch, are you saying that the first half and the second half aren't the same guy? Or is it that you just still don't know who Rudy was talking about?
