A clown is out hiking in the woods. He comes to a large ravine with a rickety old bridge spanning the width. He needs to cross this bridge. There is a sign posted saying that the bridge's weight capacity is only 160 pounds. Fortunately, the clown only weighs 158 pounds, clothes and all. Unfortunately, he is carrying a 1 pound apple (his lunch), a 2 pound red nose (an old clown gag) and a 2 pound rubber ball (something to amuse himself as he travels.) Knowing that he cannot risk exceeding the weight limit of the bridge and that he cannot throw away any of his items. How does the clown cross the bridge in only one trip? ------------------ Pollution is Killing the Earth..... and the main rockets forum!
He juggles the objects. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! The Rockets will be NBA champions. Believe.
Wouldn't the "and all" part include apple, nose, and ball? I think so, so he just walks accross the bridge since he only weighs 158 with the apple, nose, and ball. [This message has been edited by Band Geek Mobster (edited May 08, 2001).]
Do you have a picture of that 1-pound apple?! ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils.
While the juggling thing is the "correct" answer to the riddle, many scientists would take issue with the answer. Even while throwing the objects in the air, the downward force remains the same as if he simply carried the items across. ------------------ Houston Sports Board Film Dallas.com AntiBud.com

4, 31 and I don't want to say why but can you finish this letter pattern? O T T F F S S - - - ------------------
By the way Smeg's puzzle was the months (number of letters in the name and the number of days) how about these number patterns - explain what they are. 3-1, 4-3, 4-1, ?-? 3-2, 4-3, 4-2, ?-? ------------------
The clown eats the apple, rolls the rubber ball across the bridge, and then walks across with the nose on... There, only 160 lbs are crossing at one time, and he only walks across once. (Naturally he would have to wait to void himself of the apple, or else it counts against his weight, but there was no time limit set on this, right? ) ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else. all - The entire or total number, amount, or quantity; totality I still think I'm right, "all" includes that nose, apple, and ball... ------------------ "You brought a Pomeranian bowling?" "What do you mean "brought it bowling"? I didn't rent it shoes. I'm not buying it a beer. He's not gonna take your turn, Dude." I have to agree with BGM on this one. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org
