If Landry asks for too much money, we could for Fazekas. Since he is unrestricted, we don't have to worry about the Clippers matching.

It's most probably because they signed Brian Skinner. Then again maybe the Rockets are sending them Novak, Ewing, and Singletary :p

This is the guy I called for us to take on Draft Day 2007. Two teams in one year, I could have been way off.

Either way i've always liked his game. 6'11", can score around the basket, has range on his shot, excellent rebounder, very high basketball IQ and always played like a workhorse in college despite being a 20-10 player every year. I like that kind of hunger, hustle and grit in a player.

Sure, he's not much of an athlete and likely a borderline NBA-NBDL player at this point. I'd still probably take him as a Landry insurance policy though.

Surprisingly good numbers in limited minutes. 36 minutes/game average of 14.35 pts and 11.9 rebounds. Though I'd guess most come in garbage time. Then again the 1st through 4th quarters of Clippers games are garbage time.

Unexpected cuz seeing him live in person, by appearance he looks like an absolute slow softy scrub, worse than Novak.

He lacks speed, athleticism. He is of no use to the Rockets IMO.

    Who was your pick?

Look at who was drafted between 20-35. There's like five "okay" players in that group and we have two of them. I knew that draft wasn't deep and given that we picked at 26 I figured the safest route would be to choose a smart, NBA ready big with size and range to contrast Hayes and someone who could eventually displace him as the starter.

Fortunately, this was all before the Scola/Landry trades that took care of that problem. All the same though, I still think Fazekas can be a useful player.

The jury is still out there on him too. He's a decent player that's looked very good at times and horrible at others.

    4.1 PPG/3.4 RPG vs. 4.5 PPG/3 RPG

The weight concerns are always going to loom over him. He's already near 300 lbs right now. He might be next in line for a copy of Michael Sweetney's "How to Eat Yourself Out of Basketball" book.

There were slim pickings from that group of players so we did get lucky. That being said, I didnt really have a pick, I liked Big Baby and Morris Almond but he went before the Rockets drafted. Looking at the videos and pre-draft footage Fazekas looked as un athletic as a pro prospect can be. He dosent excel at a specific thing like a Novak does so I just had a hard time seeing him being effective in the NBA.

Fair enough. I just figured if he bulked up he might become a Nick Collison like player or maybe the unathletic version of David Lee.

Rox aren't going to pick him up, doubt if any other team will either. He is headed to Europe or the D-League. He is a borderline NBA player who may be playing at his max potential already, I don't think he has much upside.

I wanted Almond. He was local and could shoot. I guess he hasn't played much in the league, but I do like the additions Morey made on draft night. The Rockets got AB and Landry and later picked up Scola for nothing.
