There has been a lot of talk about how this was a disapointing season for the Rockets (even though the Rockets won 9 more games than the previous season)

    So my question is:

If the Clippers lose in the second round is it a failed season?

Last year they had virtually the same record (56 wins vs. 57) and lost to the Grizzlies in round 1 (Grizz made the WCF).

The year before last, the Clippers made it to the second round before losing to San Antonio.

    What say you?

Definitely a failed season. Falling short of expectations is a failure.

Losing in the 2nd round sounds like failure. Losing to the Thunder who have the MVP. Not so much. Not a failure.

So who has a successful season not winning the championship?

I suppose it varies from person to person and team to team..... I would say a successful season is exceeding realistic expectations. For example, I would say the Blazers had a successful season.

Failure, just like us. Griffin stepped up to another level throughout the season and you have a coach who is supposed to push you over the top.

Was the Rockets season last year a failure?

It is an interesting thing to discuss..... hell the Clippers could comeback and beat OKC and this whole thread is for not.

However, if they don't comeback they are looking at essentially the same old/same old over the last 3 years.... this is after the Clippers added Reddick, saw the maturation of Griffin and brought in Doc Rivers.......

I would add Phoenix to that list.

There is absolutely no point in discussing this. They had a chance to advance to the conference finals, but the refs screwed them over. It's not black and white.

Definitely a failed season. This team is STACKED.

Best PG. Elite PF. Best 6th man. Great role players. Highly paid coach.

You expect to go to the Finals with that type of team.

On paper, yes. In reality, against one of the real candidate to win it all, no.

They're supposed to win, they got the black coach that CP3 requested, and they got a deep bench, and they have the right motivation to play harder.

You have to consider the off-court distractions this team dealt with.

IMO, if they are able to push OKC to game 7, this season is par for the course, but not a failure. Success would require WCF.

When we lost to OKC? In the end? No. But the circumstances are a bit different considering we entered the playoffs ass first.

We're forgetting they're the Clippers, the worst franchise in US sports. This is success for them. :p

Preseason, wasn't OKC projected as the best team in the west? If you lose to a team that was projected to be better than you, is that a failure?
