Remember when Blake Griffin went down for his rookie season and the Clippers were the worst team in the league with Baron Davis at the helm. They ended up packaging Baron Davis and the their lottery pick to Cleveland for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon. Then traded Eric Gordon and Chris Kaman to the Hornet for Chris Paul. So in retrospect, how do you think the Clippers would be today if they had never done those two trades at the time?

    A.
    1. Chris Paul
    2. Chauncy Billups
    3. Caron Butler
    4. Blake Griffin
    5. DeAndre Jordan

    B.
    1. Kyrie Irving
    2. Eric Gordon
    3. Caron Butler
    4. Blake Griffin
    5. DeAndre Jordan

Kyrie is definitely NOT a better match with Griffin.

I'd still take Chris Paul, what he brings to the Clips is something no other player can bring besides LeBron.

I'd take option A.. B is enticing but eric gordon is one of the most injury prone guys in the league and CP3 is a superstar and better than kyrie.

He's also a max player making $17M vs Kyrie Irving's $5M. But then I guess that $12M difference would go to Eric Gordon anyways since he'd have to re-sign.

He was motivated and playing great with the Clippers, I think he just doesn't want to be on the Hornets at all and has made that very clear.

everything would be different and they probably would not have gotten the 1st pick to draft kyrie.. even with that said as much as i hate him and his stupid flopping, CP3 is playing some of the best basketball of his career and has the clippers contending

Still A by far IMO. CP3's impact on the game is FAR bigger than Kyrie's.

nice question. I'd take A, especially because it's clear that Gordon/Irving/Griffin can't coexist under the cap forever (esp w/guys like Jordan in the mix)

    That is crazy....

CP3 sets up Blake Griffin perfectly every dang game. There isn't a better fit at point guard than CP3 for the Clippers

Give Irving a good team before saying that he can't bring what cp3 brings to a team. The only thing cp3 has on him right now is experience..

Chris Paul is worth everything the Clippers have. Kyrie is good. But he may or may not ever reach Paul's level.

(It would have been different if Paul was past his prime.)

A handily. Irving/Gordon/Griffin? Thats a terrible fit. There is only one ball.
CP3/Billups/BG is a much better fit and frankly CP3 is still better than Irving by a good margin. Irving is a great scorer but he is a horrendous defender, terrible playmaker(terrible Assist/TO, he doesn't have much talent on his team but his playmaking just isn't very good), etc.

Also Eric Gordon is overrated.... Injury prone, ball dominant, terrible defender and an overrated scorer even when healthy.

    A)

It's Chris Paul's time. He's already been in the playoffs before and failed. He's in his prime and he's poised to lead that Clipper's team deep into the playoffs and possibly to a Championship.

Irving's time will come down the road BUT you don't go far as a leader until you've ultimately tasted defeat in the playoffs. Irving is just getting started and as good as he is he still has a lot to learn.

    A.

Kyrie is more of a scorer than a facilitator.
