Brand Suffers Hairline Fracture In Right Foot

    Posted: October 30th, 2003

X-Rays taken in Tokyo following last night’s game revealed that Elton Brand has a hairline fracture of the fourth metatarsal in his right foot. The fifth-year power forward is expected to be out of action for approximately four to six weeks.

The injury was diagnosed by Dr. Steven Shimoyama, a member of the Clippers’ Los Angeles-based medical staff traveling with the team in Japan.

Brand, who missed 18 games last season with a stress fracture in his lower left leg, logged 21 points, 15 rebounds and tied a career-high with eight blocks in last night’s 109-100 loss to the Seattle Supersonics, the season opener for both teams.

The two teams meet again Friday night in Saitama, Japan before returning home to the United States.

heh...when I read this bit, mild dyslexia kicked in and I read it as "Dr. Steven Shiyomama" which sounded like "She yo' mama" in my head...which, needless to say, is pretty damn funny.

Sucks to be them. And I hate it for a player like Brand. Not a flashy guy, but a guy who puts on his hard hat, goes out and gets 19 and 9 every single, solitary night. The NBA needs more Elton Brands.

I believe he's referring to the Yao Ming injury when Tim Thomas fell on Yao's leg and fractured part of his femur.

And why is this thread alive?

That would mean that when one of our Rockets get injured.. somewhere in Miami, fans would celebrate for justice being served late for when:
    1) Hayes injured Shaq's knee in the beginning of season
    2) Battery severely dislocating Wade's arm that could arguably be the reason they were knocked out of the first round so badly

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. How does somebody find a thread from 4 years ago and respond to it like it's current? How do you find a thread this old without purposely looking for old threads?

    Ok, sorry to Clipper fans.

I personally feel bad for Elton Brand, actually I was seriously hoping to see him in red uniform a couple of years ago.

No, I do not have ill feeling towards their players and wish Brand full recover.

My gloating is towards Clippers as an organization.
