    Because of Nevada?

Obama got more delegates in the state and the Republican contest there was uncontested.

I dont understand why Dems want Romney to win.

    They could help
    a) Huckabee- who is sure to lose and will paint the Republicans as a religous party.

    or

    b) McCain- who is practically a Democrat

Other than on a handful of issues, campaign finance reform, torture, and addressing global warming, McCain is fairly conservative. McCain has created this image of being a maverick but for the most part he is a fairly reliable Republican.

But at least he is an actual Republican. Might as well vote for an imperfect Republican rather than a non-Republican in the Republican primary.

He also wanted he wants to allow consumers to import drugs from Canada, he opposed the Bush tax cuts, he thinks pharmaceutical companies are the "bad guys," he supports amnesty for illegal immigrants (admittedly there is plenty of debate on the right about that last one).

He does support free trade though. And I guess he is socially conservative, which is less important to me personally.

Well, except that John Forbes Kerry was a lifelong politician, married into wealth (didn't create it himself), was a lying, treasonous, anti-war protestor during Vietnam, espoused extremely dangerous liberal beliefs, had absolutely zero management experience, and had no track record of success at any level. Basically they are polar opposites.

You're right, a terible candidate, not very media savvy, but in the end, I believe he was a good man, an intelligent man, and a war hero. But that is all inconsequntial. And of course, these things didn't matter to you as you schlonged the dong of somebody else, who was neither good, nor intelligent (in fact, a self-proclaimed anti intellectual) and certainly not a war hero (other priorities). Of course, he certainly made a lot of war heros with the stroke of a pen. It all couldn't havehappened, though, without your brave internet support.

Bassmaster, I saw a very saddening article about homeless Iraq war vets today - what are you doing to resolve this problem? I personally am not doing anything about it. Just wondering if you are the same as me or if you are going above and beyond the call...thanks in advance for answering.

I will be disgusted beyond description if it's Hillary vs Mitt. If such a thing is possible, it would further alienate me from both parties.

Saying McCain is practically a Democrat is just ignorant. It's equivalent to saying Bill Clinton is "practically" a Republican.

I hadn't heard about his stance on importing drugs from Canada before but from what I recall while he did initially oppose the Bush tax cuts in his campaign he ended up voting for them in the Senate. I also recall some of his opposition on things like ANWR had to do with trying to get leverage on other issues.

I suspect its not so much Kerry is a Democrat as they don't agree with that characterization.

Very true. Hopefully people will stop falling for this carefully crafted so called maverick and moderate act. McCain also was totally humiliated by Bush, but kept playing ball with him. It was painful to see.

McCain vs. Hillary will be a snoozer in that it will bring little change and a close call. The Righties and their media, Fox, Rush etc. will be going nuts like Hillary is some sort of extreme leftist, when she is a moderate. Old conservative McCain will be playing as a moderate. The big money GOP who so far have still always controlled and dominated the GOP Agenda, (most could give a rat's ass about abortion and social issues) will of course support the GOP nominee no matter what as their whole thing in life is to reduce their tax bills, the hell with any useful role for government, the middle class or anything else. McCain will be rock solid on their tax breaks and of course he wants to spend government money in maintaining an occupation of Iraq for 100 years, so he is not threat to their defense investments.

Believe it or not, I heard some Democrats complain about Clinton while he was President, saying he worked too closely with the GOP and caved on social programs. Considering that he handled the budget more like a Republican than George W. Bush has come close to doing while in office, maybe they were on to something.

    Impeach Bush.

Oh yeah, when I was in undergrad I did some work with the Young Democrats and I quite frequently heard people say that they were shocked at this 'liberal' image of the Clintons, especialy Bill, because he is much more conservative than far right repubs would have you believe (or maybe far less liberal is a better term). Now, Hillary, on the otherhand, is more liberal than Bill.

That mirrors what I heard sometimes about Bill while he was President.

I think people tend to underestimate the influence Bill would have in the White House if his wife is elected President. I've been married nearly 30 years and my wife is an executive with the state. Sure, I'm not Bill Clinton and my wife isn't President of the United States, but I can tell you that I influence my significant other. Hillary wouldn't be President in a vacuum, unless it's because Bill sucks the air out of the Oval Office. ;)

    Impeach Bush.
