Good morning all ... Clinton has lapped Dubya. Media myth: Dubya's likeability Posted by Evan Derkacz at 5:37 AM on August 25, 2005. Don't be fooled by PR, Americans don't like him and the proof is in the latest stats. Clinton has lapped Dubya. Disturbing as that may sound, what it actually means is that, at this point in his presidency, Clinton was twice as popular as Bush. You read that right. Bush just hit 36% approval whereas Clinton's was 72%, notes Cenk Uygur. Noting that these are "pre-coup numbers" and that they're slightly lower than Nixon during his impeachment hearings, Uygur comments: "To say 'people like Bush' under these circumstances is to be so inaccurate that I have to question either your intelligence or your motives. How much cognitive reasoning ability do you need to figure out that 36% approval rating means people DON’T like George Bush? Do you owe the guy money or something?"
Busted link. This gets consideration for liberal outrage post of the day - but lack of content may prevent it from winning.
Clinto gets a hummer from an intern in the oval office. Bush starts a questionable war. Clinton laps Bush. Bummer.
I don't know why people keep bringing up Bush's approval rating. It's not like he has to win any re-election votes...
I'm pretty sure that an outgoing elected official's approval rating directly affects his predecesor's chance of winning...
Seeing as how it compared a pair of two term Presidents at the same point in their presidency, I think the comparison is a good one. Bush's presidency is going to hell in a handbasket. If it were merely picking Bush's low point, and comparing it to Clinton's high point, of both presidencies, then you would have an excellent point. It's not. Keep D&D Civil!!
You're right. But it's still picking a point where there is the biggest difference in ratings. It's like comparing Bush's 90% approval rating 7 months into his presidency to Clinton's 58% at the same point and writing an article saying Bush is clearly the better president and that America likes Bush so much more than Clinton, while failing to mention the circumstances at the time. They are in 2 entirely different situations and it isn't right to compare the "point of evaluation" because it is clearly Bush's lowest vs. Clinton's highest. He just picked a point where it was the biggest difference, kinda like what I did above.
It's amazing how low Bush's ratings are, it's truly historical! If the economy is doing so great, then how come only 33% have a positive outlook on Bush's handling of the economy? The facts just don't add up, must be the liberals! http://www.angus-reid.com/polls/index.cfm/fuseaction/viewItem/itemID/8637
Well, if the public actually uses Bush's approval rating to make a decision in the 2008 election, then perhaps America should switch to a benevolent dictatorship.
I'm having a sudden flashback to "Moon Over Parador" "Which Simms are you voting for?" "I think I'm going to vote Simms Blue." "Vote for who you want, it's a free dictatorship."
