With the Detroit Piston's on the verge of signing Elden Campbell it looks like they are letting Cliff Robinson walk. I think he is just the type of player we need. He can shoot the open look and plays tough defense. He can also play any position from small forward to center... I think he would be a perfect fit for our team because he can also bring the veteran leadership plus he has been in the playoffs nearly every year he has been in the nba.... he can also fill up the basket.. i remeber when he scored 50 points a few years ago

Cliff Robinson would be an excellent player for us. Not bad on defense and can hit from the outside. I don't think we have enough of the midlevel to get him though.

if he's available, sign him up. i've always thought he was one of the most under-rated players in the league (next to cat).

    hard-nosed, versatile...he's a rocket killer...

I think he woudl be an ideal pickup for us. our biggest glaring weakness is currently at the 3, and he would definitely remedy our problem there. Lets hope he will not cost too much.

Hopefully, he will be at the point in his career where he cares less about making money than about playing for a good team. How about Jim Jackson?

I like Cliff's offensive game, but the knock on him has always been against his defense. Isn't that one of the reasons Pheonix let him go for someone else?

From what I've always remembered is he plays defense like a matador.:p

Isn't he the worst rebounding center in the NBA?

Is he even a free agent? RealGM has him down as having 2 years remaining.

Tell that to Portland who played him at that position.

I'd take him for the right price, even if he did top espn Insider's list for worst playoff performances last season.

so maybe they will take some of our bad contracts out in order to get him. Espn insider reported that the Pistons were trying to deal chucky atkins and cliff robinson. Maybe they would take Mo taylor because he is better scoring threat than corliss williamson.... In my opinion he would fit this team. I always though of him as a great defender.. except when he was forced into play center. but he can go back to his natural sf position with the rockets. and maybe take some of our baggage with him

you are right, he's no FA this summer. His contract is through 2005-2006.

Cliff Robinson is not a center. He might masquerade around as one in the East, but that's nothing to brag about.

If you count only the true centers then LaFrentz is the weakest reb center per 48 minutes played.

I wouldn't mind having Cliff, but there's no way I trade MoT for him. I don't think we trade either MoT or EG without getting a pretty good PF in return.

I think the only way that we'd have a chance is if Detroit wanted to clear up some cap space for next year and would take on Rice. If that were the case then either of these would work:

    Rice for Cliff + Atkins
    or
    Rice for Cliff + Rebracca

I think either one of those scenarios is highly unlikely....unless we included picks of some kind.
