In every basketball forum I visit that has talk going on about Wang Zhizhi, Yao Ming, or other chinese basketball players, the chinese government always gets dragged into discussion. The relations are strictly between the players (contract talks, salary etc), NBA, and the CBA. The Chinese Government has little to do with what goes on with these relations.

For example, most of you know that Chinese players in the NBA have to give up half their salary to the CBA. Well, the salary is going to the CBA because they made the players develop into what they are. In the Wang dilemma, in fact, the chinese government supported Wang to stay in the US to improve during the summer. It is just that the CBA wanted Wang back because of the contract and and his presence during national team training
sessions. In conclusion, don't mix the chinese government into recent basketball issues such as the wang dilemma.

one more thing...Wang being an army officer had nothing to do with the CBA wanting him back in China.

Thanks sniper, I've been wondering about that, as I've seen a lot of discussion on the Chinese government mixed in with people's posts. The only question I have is this: is the CBA a private enterprise, or is it somehow affiliated with/owned by the government?
