What does he have to be mad at? He shoots 8 more free throws than the entire Heat team (14-6). He gets mad when the refs call a foul, he thinks they should have called it earlier. He's a disgrace, and what's worse, no one (NBA, ESPN, etc.) seems to see that.

    It's simple.

He knows Dream is back and the Rockets are getting ready to reclaim the division. Knowing that they are only 3 games up on us has them really worried!

I was watching it and it reminded me of when Karl did this in 1995. The Jazz were rarely on national TV then and TNT picked up one of their games. Right after the game, they asked Malone if there was extra motivation since they were on national TV and he said point blank (I SAW this live) "F--- TNT... they ain't been with us all season. We don't care yadda yadda yadda we blue colla yadda yadda ... " -- typical Malone stuff.

I was there -- CLEAR AS A BELL... he's stupid, but he still knows he's on national TV. The guy is a prick.

You know I gotta defend my boy....I'm just going to make the one post - we don't need a giant fight breaking out on this thread, too.

Anyhoo, Karl was pretty ticked. He had a horrible night....went about 38 minutes without a FG at one point. We was disappointed in himself. To top it off, his team almost lost 3 straight games for the first time since 1997. He's a bit frustrated right now...searching for a reason for the teams recent struggles.

As for the profanity, he shouldn't have said it, but he did. Can't fix it now, it's already over. It's not like he's the first player to ever swear in an interview.

Don't worry Jenna, I'd love a giant fight vs. the Jazz:

    - Malone had 21 field goal attempts, and 14 free throw attempts: he didn't get screwed by the refs or not get enough shots from his teammates; Imagine if Hakeem had 21 field goal attempts and 14 free throw attempts in one game!! He might get 35 points. - And Malone always gets an absurd amount of free-attempts from the refs he intimidates; and you can pretty much bet 20 shot attempts every night.
-Almost 3 consecutive losses!! Oh no, that'd be catastrophic. He can blame himself for shooting up a ton of bricks the last few games - What is he the last 2 games? 11-42? something like that...
-The worst part is that the media seems to think he is a good man at heart - He can't hide his general stupidity but the media doesn't understand he has low values.
-Get this: ESPN's NBA poll had him as one of the 4 nominees for midseason MVP - he is shooting 44%, and has his lowest point total in quite a long time...He got the nod over Chris Webber!
Karl Malone is a thug, a fool, and a jerk [IMG]
    thats my 2 cents

OK, one more post couldn't be too bad....

As for the shooting, he blames no one but himself. He does not blame the refs, does not blame his teammates. He blames Karl Malone.

3 consecutive losses would be pretty catastrophic for the Jazz, especially since two of the losses would have come from Detroit and Charlotte. Not something he wants to think about too long....

As for his heart and values....you've never been around the man, have you?

Should he be the midseason MVP? No. Heck, I votes for 'Zo....

    I can't resist.....

I can't wait to see the Jazz fall apart. I hope we are the team to (once again) crush their hopes and delusions of winning a title.

Sure they won the West 2 seasons in a row. Who cares. Am I bitter that they beat us each of those years? Damn right I am!

The Jazz are not a great team. They will not go down in history as one of the great teams. THEY HAVE BEEN LUCKY.

No way do they beat us last year if Charles' muscle hadn't snapped. Same goes for the year before. It took a lucky shot by Stockton and a Clyde bearhug by Malone to beat a Rockets team that still wasn't recovered from injuries.

Every time I see that picture of Stockton in the air with Clyde being bearhugged by Malone, I get all worked up. Yet another no-call for the Jazz.

Anyway.... I hate that team. I have no respect for them at all. I have no feelings of sentimentality telling me that it would be nice for Stockton and Malone to finally win a title. Screw that team! They don't deserve it. They are not the better team. They were only heathier, that's all.

Let me explain my bitterness to those who don't already know. Don't get me wrong Jenna, I have nothing against the players personally. It's simply symbolic of the circumstances that have occured over the past 2 years.

I strongly feel cheated by the basketball gods. Injuries have prevented us from reaching the Finals over the past 2 years. We were that team that could have broken the Bulls dynasty. 1996 was the only year that we did not deserve to make the Finals. Seattle exposed the team in a big way that year. I still don't understand the logic of people who still think we broke up a championship team to get Charles.

The Jazz were good, but they weren't as good as we were when healthy. No way could the Jazz EVER beat the Bulls. But we could have. Man, would that have been a series of epic proportions!

Anyway, yes I feel cheated and yes I am still bitter. That's why I want us to be the team that destroys Utah in front of the world. I want to see the Rockets return to glory at the expense of the Jazz.

    Bring' em on!

Actually IROC it, Jenna (if I am correct) is a veteran of the BBS and she has been known to defend Karl Malone. I believe her take was this; She likes Karl Malone the player, not the Utah Jazz. This is understandable, I myself like players on other teams, but of course the Rockets are my home team and they are the team that I have the greatest affinity for. Granted, most, if not all, Rocket fans hate the Jazz but just because one fan likes a player on the Jazz doesn't mean he/she is against the Rockets. Just thought I would clarify this.
But yes, Karl Malone was completely at fault for his comments on national television. I happened to see him spout off his mouth and no matter how big a Karl Malone fan one is, you cannot deny that Karl Malone was in the wrong.

    IROC it,

    you said:

"And don't even try and say Karl and Stockon deserve squat. Put simply: they don't. Reason? They cheat. They are professional cheaters. How do they get away with it? They're professionals. It's their job to cheat, and they constantly stay clocked in."

now i can understand your hate of the jazz. i absolutely hate all of them when the play the rockets. and i agree at times stockton and malone do cheat, but they are great players. you can't deny that. and when they're not playing the rockets i actually enjoy watching them play.

There is one reason I like the Jazz, and one reason only. Karl Malone. If he was not a part of the Jazz, I would not like them. Heck, I would like the Clippers is Karl was there. Same thing with Miami. I like the Heat because PJ Brown is there. I liked the Nets when he was in New Jersey simply because he was there. I admit, Timmy, 'Zo, Voshon and Riles are reasons I would stay with the Heat even if PJ left.

Don't for one second think I do not like the Rockets. The fact is, I LOVE the Rockets. I have for a long, long time. I even went out and bought season tickets - I own every replica jersey available, 3 pro-cut jerseys, and I have a room dedicated to the team. It's even painted gold and white with the old logo border around the room (look for this to be in a future issue of Basketball Beckett; not sure what issue, yet). I remember in 1997, when I was missing my high school graduation to go to a game, I was sitting in Compaq Center with 2.8 seconds left in the game, Utah ball. I was in my seat, crying. I knew Stockton was going to hit that trey...seen it too many times. The only thing that soothed me was knowing that Karl would be going to the Finals....his dream in life. Don't even get me started on him dragging Clyde to center court on that play - I was more pissed off than anyone about that.

To summarize, I like Jazz because of Karl Malone (kinda like Thurl Bailey, too). That's the only reason. I'll probably despise them when he retires. I also love the Rockets, as a whole (not Drew, Maloney and Price, though). I'll be at the game in just about an hour and a half wearing my Rockets Kevin Willis jersey, watching the Rockets squander a 4th quarter lead. But then again, I'll be going on a Jazz road trip at the end of the month, too. Think of it this way - I'll be courtside at a Spurs game throwing the 1995 WCF, and why he didn't deserve MVP that season - it should have been Dream again, in David Robinson's face....

I despise the Jazz BECAUSE OF Karl Malone and John Stockton; they are, like IROC it already said, cheaters and especially Stockton knows every dirty trick. I don't like Gary Payton, too, but he isn't a cheater.
I hope the Rocks will take revenge and beat the Jazz in the playoffs - with Charles Barkley bearhugging John Stockton and Scottie Pippen making the decisive trey in the last game.
    GO ROCKETS!!!

34dream- I'd rather see a Game 7 Western Conference Finals scenario like this:

Game tied at 100. Karl Malone misses a 13-foot fadeaway. Barkley gets the rebound. Wit 2.8 seconds left on the clock, Scottie throws the ball into Barkley at halfcourt. Unfortunately for the Jazz, Hakeem Olajuwon sets a monster pick that sends Karl Malone sliding under the basket. Barkley casually struts toward the three-point line as John Stockton runs fullspeed toward him. CB4 stops and shoots as the buzzer sounds. All eyes drift towards the net as the Chuckster's shot makes the loudest swish in Compaq Center history. The ball goes through the net and hits Malone square in the face as Barkley and the Rockets go into euphoria and Stockton and Malone realize that their time has passed.

sir scarvajal- don't you just LOVE how the Sonics ripped apart themselves? They definetly had the team of the future yet they tore themselves apart! I hope we get to face them one more time in the playoffs this year for old time's sake and watch the Dream systematically destroy anyone they put on him, and watch the Rockets extinguish any hope Seattle had to return the finals.

There is way, way too much venom on this thread. As a Rox fan the only team I can despise and get a great big warm feeling in my gut when they choke on their own digestive track fluids is GP and sonic bang. They have had the nerve to sweep us (then embarras the West) and besides GP and their fans acted like classless punk asses in the process. I remember when GP got all in Clydes face and looking back I kind of wish Clyde and Mr. Mean would have drawed and quartered his scrawny self right there on the court. I have some respect for the Jazz, Spurs (its hard not to root for Avery and Elie a little bit, they have earned what they have got) and a little for the Lakers. After all, we have stole those teams (or their players like Shaq, Harper) hearts out far more often then they have done that to us. Sure Karl is the biggest flopper since Laimbeer (and chokes come final time) and many of their fans are hypocritical whiners (but they did give Clyde an ovation for his last game), the fact is they did not prevent us for winning a ring the last 2 years, they were just the last team to play us. I am however enjoying every last minute of the Sonics demise.

Yep, Gary's team ain't so tough without Karl to organize them, Kemp to be a go-to-guy, and a bunch of pesky veterans (Nate and Sleepyhead). GP is still a devistating individual player but I am loving his team's demise. Its kind of funny, I guess now I kind of root for Karl (and he has done a fine job with his new team) and Kemp a little bit (I think he has got a bum rap and never go the credit he deserved for the Sonics getting to the finals, the fact is he played at least even with Malone 3 years ago for them to advance). Another guy I root for now is Nick-the-Quick, another scapegoat who personally won most all the big playoff games the Lakers have been victorious the last few years.

Here is a comment by Mo Taylor of the Clippers, on Karl Malone:

"If Darrick Martin hadn't pulled me away, there would have been a fight," Taylor said. "Everyone has frustrating games. I said to him, 'I thought you were better than that. I thought you were more professional.' I told him to stop whining."

Gee Karl, even the worst team in the league knows your a classless jerk.
