I just watched the movie West World with Yul Brenner and thought that could be a really great movie remade the right way. Any other suggestions?
I think a live-action version of Charlotte's Web is coming out soon. Loved the cartoon & book when I was a kid. Truly "classic" movies don't need to be remade. See: The Manchurian Candidate (among others). However, big disaster/special effect driven movies like The Poseison Adventure can I guess get better with the newfangled technology these days. Sticking with your Crichton theme...I'll go with The Andromeda Strain. Good call on Westworld. I'm pretty sure that's been bandied about as a possible remake for awhile. I wanna say Ahnold was involved at one point (ugh). The Dirty Dozen could be good if they got the right cast (Bruce Willis as Lee Marvin's character, maybe?).
Ummmmm, don't mean to spoil your thread CG, but they are classics for a reason. Any remakes would be a sham. Bruce Willis? as Lee Marvin? Huh?.
As I was watching West World I just thought it was a little slow and could be juiced up with special affects to make it more exciting. I think a movie can be remade without insulting the original --- a more modern take on the same story.
Not a classic movie, but "Timeline" was a truly horrible movie when it came out a couple years ago. Why couldn't Spielberg get Timeline? He could have made it as good as Jurassic Park no doubt. Most Crichton books would make great movies. Prey would be another candidate.
I wouldn't say they are classics per say accept for the first one. But I would like to see them redo all the Batmans with Christian Bale as Batman. I think Batman Begins was the best one made and I think they could enhance the others. I know the original one with Nicholson and Devito was good but I like the dark Batman.
