I keep hearing a lot of talk about how under the cap we will be next year, etc and how we can go after a big name player. Just checked out the projected FA list for 2001 at bkball.com and it isnt too impressive. The only real big time player out there is Webber, and thus I am sure there will be more than one team looking to land him. Is there anyone else out there that I am missing???? ------------------ Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things!
We got screwed. Our year of caproom is in the transition from 3 year to 4 year rookie contracts. Under the old system, we could have had Vince, Antawn, Paul Pierce, any of last year's rookies. The NBA hosed us. ------------------
dafranchise: just bad luck. i hardly think the nba took into consideration the rockets cap room in 2001 when making that new rookie rule.
I know its just bad luck and I'm not going to say there is some conspiracy like some fans of unnamed teams, uh Portland. By the way NugzFan do you have the same name on the ESPN board? ------------------
Chris Webber and Michael Finley are the main free agents in 2001. Dikembe Mutombo could also be one however I read in Michael Murphy's column this morning that Mutombo's agent, David Falk, is approaching the Hawks about a contract extension. Apparently Mutombo has warmed to the idea of staying in Atlanta. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
