he's another hometown product. What does he brings to the table? Is he a shooter who can contribute ti the Rox?

CJ is still on the bubble as to go pro or go to UT. I think he is leaning toward college.

he's heavily leaning towards UT and even though I think he's one of the top 15 players in the draft he won't be taken that high. He's a likely late first round pick. plus, the rockets don't need a player like miles becuase he's very similar to t-mac is his skills. a great shooter and athlete with exceptional ball-handling skills. he'll be a great player one day but the rox really don't need him.

this decision surprised me because pretty much everyone thought that he was going to college at least for one year. however, during all-star games he should a lot potential and skills that most highschoolers don't have. i wish he would go to school but i would compare him to a J.R. Smith type in his rookie season in the NBA but probably averages more assists and rebounds.

That is a shame. I don't see him being a first rounder this year though. He is so skinny and has not had the exposure or the experience to be rated high on skills. Also, is he the type of player that will get rafted on his athleticism alone?

no he actually has very good skills. that's best thing about miles. he has the combination of skills and athleticism. he can handle the ball very well and shoot threes very well. he is also a tremendous athlete but he has the type of skills that i believe is at least top 15 material.

word on CJ is that he is leaning towards going to UT. if he isn't a lottery or near lottery pick (top 16) he's going to go to Texas. at this point he is in the 20-25 range and it doesn't look like he will get any higher, so i would say expect Miles at UT next season.

I hope CJ comes to the 40 acres next year.

Gibson-CJ-PJ-Aldridge-Buckman would be a nasty lineup.

Texas signee C.J. Miles is not at the pre-draft camp, but he has been playing poorly in recent workouts, SportsLine.com has learned -- so bad that "he's embarrassing himself," according to one source. That's great for Texas, assuming the 6-6 Miles pulls out of the draft and plays next season for the Longhorns. SportsLine.com

"Skyline forward C.J. Miles, a McDonald’s All-American who has entered his name in the NBA draft, has pre-registered at Texas for the second session of summer school, which begins in mid-July. It’s an indication that Miles is leaving his options open as far as playing for Texas, where he has signed a national letter of intent. Miles has until June 21 to withdraw his name from the consideration for the draft. Miles wasn’t invited to the NBA Pre-Draft Camp in Chicago this week, a top showcase for NBA scouts. Former Texas center Jason Klotz was invited. Klotz said Thursday he’s happy with his workouts and hopes he has made in impression with NBA personnel." Dallas Morning News

not sure if its credible, but the source quotes CJ's father

    CJ Miles Staying in Draft

NBADraft.net spoke with Calvin Miles Sr. on Friday and he informed us that Calvin Junior "CJ" Miles will remain in the draft.

Miles has long been projected as a late first round pick, and his decision to remain in the draft is a good indication he will end up getting into the first round. He never gained the hype that some of the other high school prospects in this draft have, but make no mistake he is a tremendous athlete, with advanced skills and the maturity to handle the jump. Look for CJ to end up somewhere between 20-30 on draft night.

A faulty report was put out recently by CBSSportsline that CJ was not invited to the NBA Predraft camp, but in actuality he was invited and chose not to attend the camp.

    - btw - they also pick him to go to Houston at 24

same info from a more reliable source...

    http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...a/stories/061405dnspocalvinmiles.6fa7979.html

==========================================================Skyline's Calvin Miles Jr. is planning to remain in the NBA draft, his father said Monday. The deadline to withdraw is next Tuesday, a week before the draft.

"We're staying in the draft as of right now," Calvin Miles Sr. said. "The percentage is very low that he'll go to college."

No North Texas player has made the jump from high school to the NBA.

Calvin Miles Miles Sr. said NBA sources have told him that his son, a 6-6, 210-pound shooting guard and Texas signee, will probably be a mid- to late first-round pick. Only first-round picks receive guaranteed contracts.

But until then, Miles Sr. said he knows "there are no guarantees in the NBA."

"I think there is a pretty wide range on him right now," one NBA personnel director said. "He could go late first [round].

"There's a pretty good learning curve he needs. But he's talented."

Miles Sr. said the family has begun looking for an agent but would not decide whether to hire one until after the draft.

NCAA rules allow high school players to go to college even after they are drafted, as long as they don't hire an agent. If a player is drafted but then goes to college, the team that drafted him retains his rights until one year after he completes his college eligibility.

Miles Sr. said his son would go to Texas if he were drafted in the second round.

Miles has worked out for San Antonio, Denver, Toronto, Detroit and Houston. Miles Sr. said his son will work out today in Sacramento and visit New York, Miami and Denver this week.

Miles is scheduled to visit Utah next Tuesday. Miles Sr. said the decision on whether to remain in the draft would be made that evening.

Miles Sr. said his son does not plan to attend the second session of summer school in Austin.

Miles, the state's Mr. Basketball, averaged 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists his senior season.

Briefly: Center Eric Williams dropped out of the NBA draft and will return to Wake Forest for his senior year, his mother said. ... Florida guard Matt Walsh told coach Billy Donovan he plans to remain in the draft. Donovan also said he was "95 percent sure" that guard Anthony Roberson will remain eligible for the draft.

Very interesting. I didn't know high schoolers could still go to college after being drafted but it makes sence since Coby Clemens has the same decision in Baseball. Too bad the Rockets don't have early second rounder. He could go to UT a year or two until the Rockets want to give him guarenteed money. I seriously doubt they would use #24 on him.

word is that if he decides to not hire an agent and gets drafted late first round he'll still attend UT and let the team who drafted him retain his rights until he decides to leave school. i know it sounds strange but according to espn about a week ago thats a serious option for miles and his father actually prefers that option for CJ. i have no clue how this is going to work out but it'll be interesting as long as there is no agent hired.

I think that'd be more the case if he was drafted second round. First round guaranteed money is gonna be too much to pass up, IMO of course

It will still be there for whenever he decides to go pro. What if a team drafts him in late 1st round but they tell him he will only get limited playing time. Sounds like he would be better off going to UT getting major minutes to improve himself. The team has to give him the 3 year guarenteed contract when he decides to turn pro even if he gets a career ending injury.

I wish the Rockets had a early second rounder. Maybe a swap with Utah - our 24th & next years second for their 27th & 34th.

Um, you can't do that. If you get drafted by an NBA team, or even participate in the NBA draft then your college basketball eligibility is over. Not hiring an agent, just means that you can still pull out if he wants to. So if he's worried about his stock and wants to go to college instead, he needs to pull out of the draft by June 21st.
