I got it, but for some reason it's installing from Steam rather than installing from the disc. Now I have to wait for it to finish downloading .
Got it earlier today (via Steam). Haven't had a chance to check it out though. Probably won't until later in the week actually. Looking forward to it though.
What's the difference? I could research but why do you think its not worth it? I think I might rather buy the physical copy, I like manuals and fluff.
Well, on Steam : Deluxe Edition Includes - Bonus Babylon Civilization with leader "Nebuchadnezzar II" - Behind the Scenes at Firaxis with Civ V video feature - Game Soundtrack The only thing I'd care about would be the extra Civ probably, but not sure it's worth paying 20% more for. The rest of the stuff I don't care about. I used to get the physical copy, but whenever I needed to install stuff, I couldn't find the serial or manual. I like Steam. I can keep moving and reinstalling without worrying about losing keys and stuff. And the manuals that usually come with these games are worthless nowadays.
The manuals suck? I remember getting neat little maps and stuff with Civ 4. It's the only PC game I play. Ya the added stuff doesn't seem enticing, I barely get the chance to play as more than 4 or 5 different characters as it is. So whats the consensus guys, is this one better than 4?
I don't know if Civ V's manuals suck, but I can usually get a lot more info about gameplay of games from looking online or in a strategy guide. BTW, there's a $100 version of the game. I'm not crazy enough to get that. I've decided to splurge and get the Deluxe version, I think...
I've been dogged by some friends for playing Civ but I swear it's the best strategy game going. Been playin the hell out of the 360 version lately.
Got great throughput on the d/l from Steam - around 2 MB/sec. I was thinking I'd have to wait overnight, but it seems to be done.
I went with the Deluxe Edition too. I'm a sucker for Behind the Scenes stuff, and I also wouldn't mind the soundtrack, especially if it is as good as the little bit I heard from Civ 4. Of course, I'm guessing those probably wouldn't be hard to find on Youtube or whatever 3 weeks from now. But always good to reward developers you like (and I'll just pretend my extra $10 didn't just go to some exec that has nothing to do with Firaxis).
I just looked at the PDF version of the manual that comes with the Steam install. It's 233 pages. Half of it is unit descriptions. Kind of simplistic, but seems to have more detail than many of the crap manuals I've seen in the past in other games.
