Probably my favorite show on TV. Anybody else watch this show? http://www.aetv.com/tv/shows/city_confidential/
Me too... good show. The over-the-top narration about the cities is pretty funny. I miss the old narrator, though. (Paul Winfield? Anyway, RIP.)
Yaeh, Paul Winfield was great. LOL-over the top narration, How true. I love hearing the stories of the different cities, and how people are messed up everywhere. Not just where I live.
it's crazy how much we have in common mr. finn. one of my favorites as well as cold case files and american justice. remember the carthage tx. episode with the old lady in the deep freeze? "something just weren't right" -paul winfield
Yep, I love those shows as well. The Carthage one was classic. The one they had on last night, Paduka, Kentucky, was messed up.
I liked the one about Gatlinburg, TN. The characterization of the town was exactly right: a tourist town all about separating you from your money.
A&E is becoming one of my most-watched stations: Cold Case File American Justice City Confidential Sell This House Dog the Bounty Hunter Intervention (anybody seen this?) Who does the narration now for CC? I recognized the voice, but not I can't recall who it was...
The "Texas cheerleader murdering mom". (actually it was the other cheerleader's mom, and she never actually killed her... just got caught trying to hire a hit man) You've probably heard of this case. City Confidential should have called it "Channelview" instead of Houston... The area was represented as a place where high school football and cheerleading were a big deal, and after the age of 18 it's off to a life of boring blue-collar jobs and living vicariously through your kids... until they get to be 18. (anyone from there? is this true? )
Houston, Texas To give her daughter a better chance at making the high-school cheerleading squad, Wanda Holloway conspired to kill another cheerleader and her mother. The case shocked the nation and exposed the obsession that many Americans have with football and cheerleading. Narrated by Paul Winfield. They also had an episode of 2 women from League City that were murdered.
I used to watch that show all the time. I was a night owl for many years (still am, but I'm talking serious 7 days a week night owl) and would always catch the 3am showing all the time, and then it was NFL films on ESPN. Man, what else was on at night, all the girlsgonewild infomercials, O'Reilly reruns at 3am, and Court TV had a good late night line up. What happened to Paul Winfield? If he died, then RIP man. I can't imagine that show without his awesome voice. I always like the city background info, then the major incident, then the plot twist, then the resolution. Fun show.
Heart attack so it seems... IMDB has his death listed as 03-07-2004. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0934902/
I like this show as well. Although the narration does tend to stereotype towns and people too much. I saw one about Carthage, Texas that might have offended me...were I from Carthage. I know they're proud of their country roots...but I thought the show was "smirking" just a little too much at them.
I agree, but in the end law enforcement handled their business like the big city cops and got their man.
I watch Cold Case all the time, great show. Then I also watch the white trash DOG, he doesnt carry any guns, but damn, his wife could hurt you with hers.
Haven't seen Intervention yet, but I will check it out. I have seen the previews and a lot of it looked staged to me. I could be wrong. There used to be a series on Bravo? or maybe it was the Health channel, I think it was called 28 days, or something like that. It was about an Alcohol and Drug treatment center in Florida, they filmed the same group going through the 28 day treatment program. Good Reality show, nothing like the crap they have on network TV.
The target of the intervention is led to believe that they are participating in a documentary being made about addiction. They do not know that an intervention is the culmination of the story. It's very realistic; you'll see some pissed people who get confronted with the intervention.
