Anyone see this? I thought it was pretty entertaining but got a little over the top once the "fireworks" started. Also I am a little surprised there is no controversy over: Spoiler President Obama's head exploding?
Enjoyed the hell out of this movie. The church sequence might have been one of the most over-the-top, exhilarating and silly popcorn scenes I've ever watched. I thought it was fantastic. I didn't recognize the lead actor from anything. He seemed pretty good. Possibly a budding star. I wish this movie had done more at the box office because it would have been great fun to see it turn into a series that kind of acts as counter programming to the actual Bond movies.
I liked it as a whole. Though that fireworks scene I was just like "Really? We're doing this?" It was ridiculous. Mostly it just seemed like all the main characters were having fun with their roles (especially Jackson, he was a riot and scene-stealer throughout) and the choreographer was having fun with the action scenes. Movies like that are rarely cinematic classics, but they're usually fun to watch.
I really enjoyed the movie too although I couldn't understand some of what they said because of the heavy British accent. But I have one question: Spoiler How did the sword-legged girl die at the end? She got cut and turned green and died. I missed something because I didn't understand what happened to her.
Spoiler Poison from the shoe blade. They described what kind of poison it is earlier in the film when Colin Firth is giving the tour of the "tailor shop".
Spoiler they explained it in the scene where Galahad takes Eggsy to the weapons storage at the tailor shop. It's the scene where he was saying oxford not brogues or something to that effect (about the shoes). The shoe releases a blade when you tap its heel and the blade contains some kind of poison
^^ eh beat me to it. I actually really liked Tink Tink and somehow was a little bit rooting for her. I'm a little disappointed on how they handled her character in the end. She deserved a much more awesome way to go.
Spoiler Aaaaaah, thanks. My wife and I both missed the part about the poison. We were both stumped as to why she died from one cut to the arm. lol
The FW scene was over-the-top but what else could they have done? Show actual blood and brains splattering? Great move though.
I hope they make sequels to this. after 2-3 movies of he same characters, kill them off and have new galahads and other knights start over. It'll be the new james bond, with less thinking and more mindless action and gadgets.
Fun movie. Loved the ridiculous over the top feel combined with a spy film. Fight scenes were glorious.
