Generally speaking, English-language remakes of good foreign films end up being pretty crappy - but, when I watched the Swedish adaptation of the trilogy, I kept thinking that they could have been done so much better - darker, more tense, more violent.

So, I'll be checking this out.

I have faith that Fincher will not disappoint. Can't wait for it to come out.

never read the book, but I watched the (swedish?) movie and I don't get all they hype, seemed like just a mediocre murder mystery

That trailer looks a whole lot like the Swedish film in terms of the visuals.

I'm usually not much for remakes/American adaptations, exceptions of course, but I thought the trailer looked cool.

Also, I'm almost afraid to say it, 'cause Zeppelin is the greatest, but was that Karen O cover actually kind of good?

Another shot for shot remake. Exactly like the other Swedish film Let The Right One In. Totally a pointless remake and no point of catching it in theatre. Straight to video for me.

I really hope that this movie is good. I wasn't too thrilled with the Swedish versions and I just didn't see Rapace as Lisbeth.

I enjoyed the books, though, with number two being my favorite.

That looks damn good - and I haven't read the book, so I know nothing about the story. Just the way I like it.

Except that David Fincher is the director.

Thanks for posting it, percicles! I finished reading the trilogy a couple of months ago. Really good. i hope the movie will be good as the book. :)

Initally, I hated the casting of Daniel Craig but after seeing the trailer, I think he will prove me wrong. In the book, the character has brown hair and brown eyes. I'm picky with details like that!

So is the Fincher version marketed towards Americans like myself who has not seen or read the original Swedish version??? There is really no point in releasing this version in Europe since they already have their original one intended for their market...
I really don't mind remakes as long as I get the original movies done with English subtitle or have the book translated in English...

Never heard of the book but looks really interesting. Fincher does some dark movies.
