WTF! I don't know how I feel about this.

Not to be a lit snob but that book does not translate well without Fitzgerald's prose. In fact, none of FSF books make good movies.

Luhrmann is never one for subtlety in his films.

    Spoiler alert:

    DiCaprio dies in the beginning/end.

PS- I know I didn't spoiler it, shame on you for not having read the book.

the great gatsby has the best final line to any book, ever.

there's no way they don't screw it up.

It was on the list in AP, but like Grapes of Wrath they always show the movie; and no matter who does or doesn't read it, teachers aren't going to flunk half a class of juniors or seniors nowadays.

The last two pages are some of the best prose ever.

Baz has made so many box office bombs but his films keep on getting financed.

I've seen the Alan Ladd and Robert Redford versions. Would like to see the 1926 lost film over this.

His films usually triple US box office abroad. For some reason everyone but the US likes his films. Hence, why he continually gets his films made.

His Romeo and Juliet was absolutely horrible. Leonardo DiCaprio gave a god awful performance in the movie as well.

I'm sure he'll ruin another great story with this version. I might still see it just because I love the book so much, and want the movie to be good.

    What a bummer.
