http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Hayes_Blog-239185-34.html First I've heard him talk about why he has troubles with free throws. It's nerves and an uncontrollable twitch.
That hitch is just ugly, I can't believe that he didn't fix that over the summer. Got to smooth that motion out Chucky ! DD
He needs a routine. You know how most free throw shooters have a method. Like a certain number of dribble and maybe to twist the ball or something. If a player has a method then that repetitive motion calms you down before you get ready to actually shoot. But what do I know, my basketball playing experience only reached the high school level And I don't know why he started shooting with that dang hitch. It became really pronounced on his free throws during his junior year in college. I just can't figure out why he can't shoot it all in one motion.
hey peeps. can one of u post the article on espn's truehoop, our daily nba blog "The Rockets Have More Nerds Than Your Team" i've been meaning to check out this intriguing title but i haven't been able to access the page. THANK U ~~!! pardon me for posting an off topic.
Should have posted the entire blog entry: Chuck also talked about banging with bigger men, making their shots hard, doing yard work, and wanting to beat up one of the coaches (Dave Macha).
Yesterday I blogged about Jason Friedman's excellent Daryl Morey feature in the Houston Press. Today Friedman posted some quotes that didn't make his article, including this Morey quote about the Rockets: I'm picturing some kind of massive machine in a secret back room of the Toyota Center, which scientists buzzing about and lights flashing. It'll whirr all year, and on draft day, it'll spit out a single piece of paper with a draft candidate's name on it, like "Hasheem Thabeet" or something. The Frankendrafter. That would be awesome. Sometimes when you've shot a certain way for so long, it's hard to change (Marion). So it's just better to try to improve with the current shooting form rather than to change everything and start from scratch.
I completely agree with that. It's kind of like a new method. I mean do you think that people just came up with the dough nut, nope. It came from mistake. Moral of the story, some mistakes and things done INCORRECTLY can actually be good.
it's a free throw, we are talking about free throw. I don't believe if all those 50% free throw shooter just practice it says 500 shots a day they won't get better at it. It's incomprehensible that an NBA can be so ineffective shooting free throw. If Chuck going to miss anyway, I wish he just adopt better looking form.
Sometimes I thought my FT is ugly, but some people also thought it was a good trick to trap the boarders entry the field earlier. Anyway, since I can't shoot like tmac, just do my job is fine. Maybe someday I could become a 85 per free throw shooter, don't forget it's "where amazing happens!"
His form changed from bad to horrible last season. He would actually lean back on his heels with his toes off of the ground, and that was with an offseason to improve it. I wish someone had a video of his lone jump shot last season. He looked like a jack rabbit springing into the air. Hilarious. Sorry, Chuck, but it needs work.
