    http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets/

    Noticed the banner today:
    T-MAC INJURY TICKER: Games missed: 3 • Rockets without T-Mac: 1-2
    Pay for no play: $257,644 x 3 = $772,934

The Pay for No Play bit struck me in particular. I don't recall them tossing one of these up when Yao went down. I have to wonder who decided to put this up and if they were sending a message with it.

It's Blindbury's contraption...the same writer who said Tmac should either play or let the team know for how long he would not play. Hypocrite.

Yeah, and everybody else there including the sports page editor rolled over because they were afraid Blinebury would give them a noogie.

That ticker's a statement from the entire sports page staff.

Blinebury is the most annoying writer at the Chron. Ugh! Annoying.

    That's a little strange.

I heard someone on the radio yesterday during a newsbreak say "Tracy McGrady is going to miss 3 weeks because his knee is sore". The thing was that is was during the news portion of a show, not during the show itself. They then played a clip of a reporter asking him "how do you think the fans will react to this when the doctor told you you were clear to play if you wanted to?" LOL, talk about a loaded question...

I think the Houston media in general is turning on him.

Tmac is starting to look less like a great player and more like great cap wiggle room next summer.

I think it's probably because Yao's injuries were legitimate and he has the reputation that he had been playing through injury and pain (remember the toe infection?). I could not recall Yao telling the media he would take a significant number of days off which was contradicted to doctors' opinions.

TMac can never be compared to any of the great (current) players. Look at kobe, lebron (especially lebron), and even dwayne wade. These players want to go out and play everyday and are not in question as to whether they are going to be able to play throughout the season. Dwayne Wade had one injury prone year last year and that is it, Lebron enough said, and Kobe well nothing but heart which is what TMac needs. Nobody is going to want TMAC after his contract finishes because there is to much risk that follows him. And I know that its the beginning of the season and people shouldn't be so stressed out about it, but damn we are paying an a**load of money to someone who can not play 1/3 of the season. We might as well just sit him till the playoffs and call him the Roger Clemens of basketball.

I don't get how Blinebury can turn on McGrady. He sure doesn't turn me on.

    Anna-Megan, maybe. But Blinebury? Eww..

Other people think the same. Does anyone not know that Clyde Drexler is not impressed with T-Mac's heart? During the Spurs game the other night, it was clear when Shaun Elliot was talking about a bench with heart, he had some starters without heart in mind. You think Barkley respects T-Mac's grit?

Let's try this: anyone know some players or writers who say T-Mac has the heart of a champion?

Blinebury acts like McGrady is a public worker and his paycheck comes out of our pockets.

Completely agree. As much as I dislike KBryant, he gets out everyday and plays. There is a reason why TMac has never gotten out of the 1st round. You can argue he is injury prone or that he is soft, but either way, when you take max payroll, you are expected to produce at a superstar level. TMac has yet to do that consistently.

Neither one of those are the reason T-mac never got out the 1st round.

T-mac,Kobe, and D-Wade all had different injuries.

Y'all act like T-mac hasn't played with a bad back most of his career. You would think T-mac was Grant Hill the way people talk about him on this board.

If they are turning, it is for good reason.

I think TMAC is just doing his job professionally.

TMAC's job is to be paid and play basketball if he feels like it. The contract did not say anything about wins, playoffs, championships....

NBA is a job. Nothing is wrong to rehab, rest, miss games as long as getting paid.

why do things more than what you are paid for?

It is stupid to discuss "heart". there was a thread about this a while ago. damn, it was stupid.

we never worked on the weekends either and we did not have the guaranteed contract like TMAC.

Fans need hearts (to get money) more than NBA players (who got money).

All willl be forgiven if and when he gets us out of the first round. If we can get out of the first I know we can at least get to the conference finals. Who knows what happens from there. In order for that to happen he needs to be fully healthy or as close to as possible.
