Chronic-Rockets near adding 3 players to camp roster

    The Rockets on Thursday were close to adding three players to their training camp roster, expecting to complete contracts with guard Ishmael Smith, center Jordan Eglseder and guard/ forward Antonio Anderson, a person with knowledge of the deals said.
    Smith played for the Rockets’ summer league team, with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey announcing in Las Vegas, after Smith made 7 of 8 shots for 15 points and had six assists in the final summer league game, that the team would bring Smith back for training camp. Smith averaged 13.2 points and six assists for Wake Forest last season.
    Anderson excelled with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets’ D-League team, last season, averaging 17.9 points and 7.1 assists last season, and 16.2 points and 6.1 rebounds in 40 career NBA Develop League games. He has also had stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
    Eglseder averaged 11.9 points and 7.2 rebounds as a senior at Northern Iowa last season.
