Receiver Andre Johnson denied a report that he has a plan in place to force a trade if the Texans do not make the playoffs.

Johnson is on the cover of the current issue of ESPN The Magazine. In the story, his uncle, Andre Melton, who also serves as his agent, tells the magazine they have a plan to force a trade but refuses to discuss the details.

“That didn’t come from me,” Johnson said after practice Saturday. “I wish he hadn’t said what he said, but that’s his opinion. I make my own decisions, and I plan on being here until I retire.

“I’m not going to lie: He (Melton) has brought it to my attention, and he has a right to his opinion. I didn’t go to him with it. I don’t think it’s a big deal.”

Johnson said he spoke with general manager Rick Smith to let him know there’s not a problem.

“I didn’t want the organization to worry about it,” Johnson said. “That’s not something I’m thinking about. Like I said, I want to finish my career here.

"I talked to Rick, and we killed it. That's it."

Good to see. I figured it was more the agent talking than Johnson. Only injuries should keep AJ from being a first ballot HOFer.

After reading this, my feelings for AJ have been elevated to man-crush status. I'm not gonna lie. I was sweating a little bit when I heard about the quote from his uncle/agent. Good to know it was just a little posturing.

If the Texans keep losing and they fire the Coach and start over again... AJ, your hero will demand to be traded. He is running out of time to win.

Yeah I agree. I trust you way more than I trust Andre when it comes to Andre. I mean, why would Andre know about Andre? That'd be some stupid stuff.

Why are you here?? What on Earth suggests that this team is not on the rise? Do you have anything meaningful to say, or is this gonna be your schtick the entire time you post here? Seriously, how old are you?

actually, I think Andre does get national pub. the talking heads talk about him and fitzgerald as either 1 and 2...or 1(a) and 1(b) among receivers in the league.

I'm glad he's denying it, but I have no doubts that if this team doesn't start making playoff noise he will force his way out.

I don't think he'll "force" his way out, but I'm sure the team will let him walk considering all that hes done for this franchise. Kinda like how KG or AI didn't force a trade out of their teams (Minny/Philly) but their GMs gave them a chances at success.
