Ouch for Tmac. The Yao-bashers can bash, but you have to appreciate a player who is always looking to improve in every way. Not a lot of players in the NBA would admit their weakness and vow to devote the summer to improve on it.

I'm sure he means "in addition to" T-Mac.

He isn't dissing T-Mac. He just knows guys like Alston, Head, Howard and Hayes won't be there in the clutch. Is Billups going to demand the max? Could we work a sign and trade? Battier and Howard? Head and Howard?

LOL, Billup's team is up 2-0 in the second round and Detroit looks like a strong contender for the east title. If Detroit can resign Billups for a decent salary, why wouldn't Billups stay another year in Detroit?

you're probably right... just thought it was interesting for him to say that. maybe he wasn't intentionally dissing Tmac, but that quote made it seem like he saw what all the Tmac bashers saw: a dissappearing act in the closing moments of a close big game. I don't think we should get rid of any of those 2, but everyone else should be fair game.

As for Billups, he's more than likely a Piston for life. Rockets have no money, so no straight up signing. And the Rockets can't use the "contender" bait because the Pistons are contenders themselves. Although, stranger things have happened in the NBA...

A-frikkin'men. There's no way Yao was calling out T-Mac here. If anything Yao was talking about the team. There are two things to reember here:

    1) inside-out only beats you when guys hit perimeter shots. As great and dominant as Dream was, he had to have it to be as great as he was.

2). Anyone that thinks Yao is throwing T-Mac under the bus is clinically insane.

You know, I still don't get why people idolize Yao as the workaholic player. Its not as if he's the only guy who admits their weaknesses and works in the summer. Its just that not a lot of players in the NBA talk about their weaknesses in public. A lot of players settle their issues behind closed doors. See: Dirk Nowitzki.

Which is why I put "not a lot." That doesn't neccessarily mean Yao is the only one.

Dirk Nowitzki? he got in trouble for screaming his issues against Golden State's D in the middle of the series. He's also said that he thinks he's still a good leader, citing his game defining plays in the end of game 5 which sparked the game winning 15-0 run. He selectively neglected the dissappearing act in game 6.

Plus, this a Rockets board, man!! Support the team! haha

So you use Dirk as an example? Looks to me it's bad example. Did Dirk jsut speak in public (in the interview w/ national live broadcast) that his weakest part is post-play, and he decided to spend time to improve this summer ? No?

I want to start off by saying I love Yao ming and I think hes a great guy and great player, but from him to speak about finishing at the end of games or in the clutch makes no sense. He up until this point is not a clutch performer he might be later on, but late in games nobody can make the arguement that he just takes over late in games.

true to the point mate. There is probably no concrete proof James would have done anything for us.

Lets mention Yao could be referencing himself.

What about the 4th in game 7 where yao scored 14 points?

Yao as a center should dominate for the first 3 quarter (which he hasn't for the series), while the 4th is for the guard.

For big games, like game 7 in the series, if we only have Tmac and Yao, it will be easier for our oponent to stop us from scoring in a couple of minutes, and it will hurt us as hard as last week's game 7 and the one 2 years ago in Dallas.

So we need someone with big heart, experienced, tough, with medium pay, to join this team. Think of Sam Cassell who worked for Twolves' first (KG's only) round 2 playoffs year, and who contributed for Clippers last year. (I don't mean we need Sam here right now, but just take him as an example)

Not much player in the league to choose. We not only need to scout for the one, but also need to talk to them to persuade them to join a team for next year's title. Such players won't be satisfied with only a first round playoffs, the same as us.

Yao only missed badly in the 2nd quarter, where he missed perhaps 6 shoots (or 7?). Turnover is a problem, while we facing defense intensity like Jazz (actually Jazz always play this style in the past ten or perhaps 20 years). Had someone who can share the pressure in the paint, it will be better.

For Tmac, I understand his concern about his back injury. You don't know how it hurts before you've experienced... You even cannot imagine.

I agree- Yao is a very special player and diciplined person. He worked so hard at recovery and practiced his shot in a wheelchair with a broken bone.He is a credit to this team.

A bird in the hand is worth a dozen in the bush. We have ahard working quality big man on our team.

I would be inspiring if he could work with Hakeem. Thank you Yao and Thank You Hakeem Olajuwon.

agreed. Yao is going to be a big force in the coming years. What doesn't kills you makes you stronger.
