    Room for improvement
In his third preseason game, Yao Ming seemed smoother and more effective offensively than in his first two outings working off the rust, scoring 16 points in 24 minutes. He was not, however, pleased with his play.

“I was more comfortable, but I had four turnovers and just three rebounds in 24 minutes,” Yao said. “It’s never perfect. There is always something to do better.

“I won’t say I have a long way to go, but I have a way to go.”

    Fourth-quarter follies
The Rockets’ offense moved much more efficiently through three quarters against the Celtics than in the first two preseason games, but the Rockets made only 37.5 percent of their shots and committed 20 turnovers. And when coach Rick Adelman went to his bench for the fourth quarter, the offense bogged down again.

The Rockets made just 27.8 percent of their shots in the final 12 minutes, committing six turnovers, as the Celtics overcame a five-point deficit for a 90-89 win.

“We did a nice job for three quarters,” Adelman said. “They played their guys. We responded. In the fourth quarter, again we struggled with that group. Offensively, we got a little impatient, tried to do too much off the dribble. Overall, it was a good game to build off of, I think.”

“They’re trying to do too much and not playing together,” Adelman said. “We’d have opportunities to shoot the ball, but we did not take shots, and we tried to penetrate into traffic. I thought we were trying too hard to make one more play when it wasn’t necessary.”

Yao's at his best when he's sealing his man in the lane, and he just has to turn around and drop it in. I don't know if he'll ever thrive in an offense that positions him in the high post. How many positive plays did he make from that position all of last year? I'd guess under 10.

Just get better each game. All you can do when coming back from a season-ender like he had.

Reading this I am guessing he's gonna take it out on the Thundercats tonight...

Yao did not say anything after the first two preseason games even he played worse. TMac did not even play the first two. It seems the whole Rockets team treated the game vs Boston very seriously.

Yao did comment after the Memphis game ("I felt like a rookie in the 1st half" etc.) I definitely thought he was just content to be on the court. The Spurs game - I agree with Adelman - his timing was just way off.

The Boston game was an improvement. He did make defensive plays and his shot did look better (he was mugged on one of them).

He still does look uncomfortable and uncertain in this offense though. I firmly believe Yao has the skills to excel in this offense, but he has yet to show it.

Of course, Adelman hasn't realy called that many straight post-ups and you know that's going to be a staple once the season starts, but right now that's not a priority.

I won't be concerned unitl about 10 days from now, but I do wish Feigen (or someone) would ask Yao about his feelings about this offense strictly from his perspective soon.

I would be more concerned on the PG position right now. AB seems to be not a great backup guard, Luther Head just sucks, Rafer does not improve his shooting very much. Who is a very dependable guard for a champ run in the playoff? TMac may have to play lots in this position.

Good idea, but Les has no money to pay that superstar.

Yao knows his role in this offense. He'll get his touches down low when we need stability in our offense, but for the most part he will be a passer and an offensive rebounder. The key for him is not turning it over, and taking advantage when he has opportunities to score.

I think this will be his most efficient year. Maybe his point totals won't be as high, but he will shoot around 50 percent, and his turnovers will go down.

I bet you were joking. and I bet morey will never excute such a trade until a decade later when monta reaches his prime while tmac and steve are to retire, but will the warriors consider such a trade then?

Will the Warriors trade Ellis for a couple 40-year olds?

    Probably not.
