Well, I guess it is pretty much final.

Yao will be better in the long run though.:)

that is bull. Yao deserves ROY more than Amare. Yao faced a lot more pressure, and Amare had better and more experienced players around him. Overall, Yao's stats are better and he is clearly a more skilled player. All Amare can do is drive to the right and dunk, he can't even shoot the friggin jumper.

    Duplicate

    I am a bit dissapointed - I wanted Co-ROY at worst.

Sad - we could have killed 2 birds with one stone had we not imploded and gave the final playoffs spot and ROY award to the Suns and Amare respectively.

I was hoping that Yao winning the ROY will help ease the pain of not making the playoffs and now I am mad. I going on my rampage again for therapy sake. Major changes needs to be made on our team and someone needs to pay for it or "we" make Les pay for inaction by making an impact or lack there of at the gates. This season has been full of frustrations and this news + Astros resent fumbling is making it harder to bear.

    Scheize!

This is BS. Yao edged out Amare almost on every category except rpg with less mpg. I dont buy it that the sun made playoff while rockets didnt. Did Suns make playoff because of Amare. Marbulry and Marion played their ass off to get the last playoff berth to the Suns. Amare is a role player in that team, not a offense focal point. I just felt that the media hype on Yao hurt him, and of course mean's coaching in Mar, and April. People like go against the hype to vote for Amare to show that they are wise. Time will tell.

I would love for Yao to have won it, but big deal if he didn't.

He is still the same player and will only get better.

I want another Championship not individual awards.

Who knows maybe this will motivate him like when the Admiral receive the MVP and Dream went off on him.

It's not a big deal of course. But it's just unfair. Amare is not even a complete basketball player yet. Ming went thorugh much more difficult transition than Amare did, and did much more for the team for Amare. We lost the playoff battle, but we didnt have our headcoach for the last 10 games. Why Amare get the award, on what count? This is crap.

who cares, we didnt make the playoffs. plus I really dont think Milk does a body good. so there lies, damn lies, and then Got Milk rookie awards. Yao did his body good by not winning that award.

I haven't really watched Stoudamire's games so I can't comment much on him. Though I did watch a few Yao's games on national TV. He was awesome against Dallas but the last 2 games were just crap. As much as I hate to give the reward to Stoudamire, giving it to Yao isn't justified as well based on his late season performance.

How true. Look at this link: http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/digest/pubs/lactose/lactose.htm

Apparently, 75% of African Americans and 90% of Asian Americans are lactose intolerant. Why the hell do they promote milk in NBA if it doesn't do good to most players?!?

Yao, you were robbed. Robbed, robbed, robbed.

But that's what we get for having a suckwad team.

I was hoping for Yao to win because that would have been this season's ONLY BRIGHT SPOT, you know?

The Chronicle is making an assumption based upon informants saying that Yao Ming hasnt heard anything from the NBA regarding a press conference. This is only an indicator, so there is still hope!
    "Keep the Faith Baby".
PS. Theres no way Yao Ming would let the Cat out of the bag before the Big Day,would he?

I really think that it's the stupid coach that gave away Yao's ROY award. It certainly doesn't look good on national TV when your coach takes you out of the game when you're hot and puts you back in when you're cold. That's exactly the opposite of what Pheonix did to Amare. That stupid coach should rot in hell.

    Hey, folks. Newbie here.

Probably not the best thing to do as a new face, but allow me to take the opposing viewpoint here.

I don't think you can really make the argument that Amare did not deserve the award. I think you can make the argument that Yao may have deserved some credit as well, but that's about it.

The two are almost statictically identical -- however one helped lead his team to the playoffs and one did not. He did not do so as a roleplayer -- he did so as the Suns' sole low-post presence. Also, Amare came into the league with far less basketball experience than Yao, making the transition a little more jarring. He's got a couple years of high school ball under his belt and that's about it.

Personally, I think both players are nice and that you don't have to pan one to prefer the other.

Which player between Amare and Yao was doubled and triple teamed almost every game. This might be a good thing for Yao in that it could take some preasure off of him next season.
