The statement about adding a backup point guard and center has to be before we added Butler and Scola and the great play of Brooks? I'm impressed by what he has accomplished via trades and draft.

I think we are in holding pattern with everyone including Chuck and Deke and camp will set the stage for who remains. I see Landry possibily going to the D league for a stint along with Novak who's only skill is shooting the 3.

However, this all means nothing if we don't go deep into the playoffs.

Deke is still unsigned and they only sent out a contract to Hayes several days ago. Morey only got back to Houston yesterday I think.

Maybe Rafer is gone? Steve Francis fans can keep their vigil going. Keep burning those candles :D

"When I spoke to my new best friend recently, Morey emphasized that the roster may be re-shaped along the way this season..."

It's about time Mr. Justice mentioned his personal relationship with a member of the Rockets team or management. It gets old when he just talks about the team and doesn't talk about himself. I mean, what's the point of reading his articles unless we read about how he's been right about something- or how he's been wrong, or about his insider status. Finally, there's some justice in the world!

Did you ask or did he have anything to say about Eliyahu or Newley?

Well, he didn't quote Morey on that statement, and then immediately talked about Scola, not a veteran point guard. I think he's referring to Deke for the center, but there's a veteran point guard on the horizon? And, we're done at PF?

hmmm ... Seems to me that James and Brooks are sufficient to backup Alston, if we're keeping him, although I wish we were upgrading at that position.

I'm responding more to his statement a few days ago that he's ready to go forward with this team, but now looking for upgrades, including moving JL3 where he can play. So, I'd think we're looking into 2 or 3 for one trades for better players ... I wish that included Alston, but doesn't sound like it. It does sound like Head might be moved, but I hope it's for better talent, and then he doesn't blow up somewhere else.

Oh well ... I'm glad we got James and Scola. We really needed those, and the rest are unproven ... hopefully they turn out to add to the mix.

    Yao/Deke/Butler
    Scola/Hayes/Landry/Reed
    Battier/Snyder/Novak/Harris
    TMac/James/Wells/Head
    Alston/Brooks/JL3

... still seems like we need some trades that include at least 3 of JL3, Head, Snyder, Reed, and Novak for 1 player and/or draft picks/ TEs, or else we'll have to cut some contracts. I wish we could trade Alston, though. I have a feeling he won't be starting as the year goes on, and his value will drop. Maybe with backup, his numbers will go up, and he'll be easier to trade in the Fall.

In his first line he says that "one of the factors in JVG leaving was" blah blah.

Wasn't JVG attempting to return and the team decided to move on? The way he makes it sound, JVG didn't want to coach this team in part because he thought they weren't going to beat the other Western Conf. powers anytime soon and he was tired of losing. My understanding is that JVG wasn't given the option to return as the team didn't think HE was the right coach to beat those teams.

Richard Justice articles give me headaches.

Stevie does not appear to be a Morey-type player. However, word was that Alexander was the one who wanted Steve back. Clips, who lost Stevenson then Hart, and Heat, who lost out on Mo Wms, seem more reasonable fits IMHO.

I'll wish him well wherever. I like the guy. Not so sure as I'd like him back on the Rox, tho... :D

The back up Point was a bit surprising. I hope it medans getting value for Rafe. Please add AD, as Daniels would be a good b/u 1/2.

And don't forget about Bob Sura. Unless and until he officially retires, with his paperwork into and approved by the league office, his contract is still possibly the single best trade asset (along with Luther Head) that the Rockets have.

No, because he talks about Scola in the article. Deke might be the center he's thinking of, but I don't know where he gets the backup vet pg idea from. We have 2 vets there now.

Credibility shot. Morey started the offseason with no salary cap space at all. Doesn't he have an editor?

He probably was fired. But he had his chances to sign an extension. He didn't take them.
