Fluck it.. If he's going to pull superstar numbers with the mentality to match for his contract year then let's milk this fat juicy udder for all its worth and let him walk next year.

No Let's trade him at the deadline for some more draft picks.

We don't have enough PFs. I think this would be a smart decision by moneyball Morey.

Have a feeling k-Mart will have a near all-star level season.

KMart will average 23+ppg this year. I really hate how everyone jumped on his **** last year. The reason for all the KMart hate is bc McHale didnt want him on the court. plain and simple. Kevin was ready to go for the last 5 games of the season last year, but McHale didnt want him on the court over Lee, although we were dying for points. And I know 1 of you will want to post the smirk picture of him on the bench at the Toronto game, but guess who had him on the bench for the entire second half, McHale. He wasnt in the game and he was laughing bc we were getting killed while he was on the bench and winning when he was on the court.

Im sorry this is a long overdue rant, but it really frustrated me to see all the Kevin Martin hate at the end of last year, and rolling into this year. Especially now bc he is the BEST player on this roster by far.

Not that I agree with this, but around the league Kmart would probably be considered as the best player on our team.

just in time for the trade deadline, hopefully squashing any chance of crawling out of the cellar and competing under some misguided notion that hanging around 500 and picking #14 is somehow better than tanking and picking top 7.

No the reason for the hate is because he can't even guard a paper bag.

You all saw what martin can do and cant do. Martin will want somewant a max contract and he just isnt/shouldnt worth that kind of roster money because he doesnt play defense. Let him play like a superstar early and then hopefully pick up a lottery pick with him by allstar break.

When the wind is blowing, paper bags are VERY tricky to guard.

I thought Martin went from being a subpar defender to an average one last year?

The difference between Martin of the past and Martin last year is he was coached differently on defense.

Before he was used as more of a "free safety" defender who would shade off of his man for a variety of different reasons. The two major reasons being steals and leaking out for easy fast break points.

Last year McHale really hammered home for the guards to stay home on defense, and assist on the boards. This cut back on fast break opportunities for Martin, but helped their defense & rebounding overall.

Yes Martin has a bad reputation, but its not because he doesn't care or he physically cannot guard someone. In a solid defensive system, Martin would be just fine. Yes, you could post him up with a bigger, stronger player, but in a quality system, it wouldn't necessarily be a one-on-one attack anyways. Im not worried about Martin's defense. Im more worried about the teams defense, and the gameplan that they buy into.

In my mind, there is no question that he is. He has been grossly underrated by Rocket's fans. When he is not plagued by nagging injuries (which unfortunately seems to happen a lot to him) he is a premier offensive player. Not many in the league that can drop forty on a given night; he is one of them. The rules changes really hurt his game because he was master at drawing fouls and he is deadly at the line. I expect that he will be our number one offensive option. Only problem, seems like he and McHale didn't hit it off last season. Hopefully that has changed.
