Wells did not travel last week and has not played since Feb. 28. He is listed as questionable with a sore right foot, but said last week he was not hurt.

"No status change," coach Jeff Van Gundy said. "It's obviously something I think he's handled exceedingly well. He doesn't like it, nor should he agree with it. But his attitude has been great. ...

"I wasn't going to bring it up. He brought it up. I was going to let it ride, but I'm seconding it. This is not 'Is he not better than guys?' ' It's right now I'm going with what I think is fitting well. I don't want to force-feed a ninth guy (into the playing rotation)."

Wells, never really had the opportunity to play with both Yao and T-mac. So I'm not exactly sure what JVG is pointing at. When Wells played, it is always with either star, and almost never with both at the same time.

Wells is done barring something unusual happening. I assume he will be kept on the playoff roster though.

I think JVG has him on the inactive list out of respect - if Wells isn't going to be a part of the rotation, there's no point in forcing him to be around the team.

Of course JVG could also be seeing how badly Wells wants to be a part of the team. But in all liklihood, it's the truth and Wells just isn't a fit.

He was, and he continually sqaundered it. JVG is demanding. If you show up out of shape and complain, you will find your butt on the pine.

    I like it.

Nothing will change until either we lose a few games in a row or we have an injury to a player in the rotation.

I personally think we will see Bonzi again due to the injury rate we have seen over the last few years.

This sort of makes me sad. I mean, I am not a Bonzi fan, but the guy has had a crap year. I think I understand the "if its not broke don't fix it mentality" of JVG, but I also think if I was inactive I would be travelling with the team to make myself visible and integrate myself with my teammates.

Maybe that's just me, but do yall think Bonzi is making some of these problems himself, or do you think JVG is reluctant to have him around because of something that is happening within the team when Bonzi is around?

We see Novak on the bench in his suit or whatever, why haven't we ever seen Bonzi that way?

I would really like to see him playing with the team when the playoffs roll around. Or at the very least active at that time. But if he isn't active and playing now, JVG will never put him in then.

I kind of see it both ways. JVG being stubborn, and Bonzi being a baby. They got started on the wrong foot when he showed up for training camp out of shape, and they disagreed on how to get in shape. I dont think JVG liked his attitude from the beginning and Bonzi thought he could just be himself and get by (because of his playoff performace with the Kings).

Its a damn shame because Bonzi is a great player and I could see him fitting in real nicely with our team - just no chemistry between the coach and the player.

In the thread title, you said this was from the Chronicle. But in the post, you quote RealGM. Is there a chron article for this?

Everybody knows JVG's reputation yet Bonzi CHOSE to sign with us and he CHOSE to show up out of shape and he CHOSE to complain about his situation after he got here.

Don't blame this on JVG. Bonzi is either stupid or dumb. ;)

Wells just didn't work out because he just didn't mesh with Tmac/Yao or our 2nd unit (although he didn't get much of a chance with a full healthy team). It was worth a try but it just didn't work. Snyder is a better fit although ultimately not the answer at backup swingman.

Um... he was in the rotation for a long time, at the expense of Snyder, who is now providing a boost of energy for the Rockets.

Bonzi had his chance and blew it. When Yao was out he was part of the 8 man rotation and getting 25-30 minutes a game.

I think one of the things that hurt Bonzi was 1) he was playing too slow in moving around the court and offensively stalling the offense and 2) he was committing too many turnovers. Snyder is just much quicker.

Maybe he's pointing at the fact that when Yao was out everybody else stepped it up.

Maybe he's pointing at the fact when Wells had a shot to be a player the team could've used, he instead showed up overweight most of the year.

    This is disappointing... blah.

I think JVG can get away with not playing Bonzi against Utah or the like, but not against Dallas, San Antonio or the Suns. I love the way Snyder plays, but I just don't think he has it between the ears yet when it comes to basketball and especially with zero playoff experience. The rockets win games when they rebound and Bonzi is still one of their best rebounders. I see him at some point being put back in the rotation when the cards are on the table.

Good points. Bonzi really showed up for exactly one game... when he was "primary scoring threat" against Boston.. and we lost. Then he plays and hurts his foot in the Toronto game, that we lost. So he goes inactive and Synder takes advantage and puts in some quality energy minutes against Denver and San Antonio.

Probably at that point Bonzi's foot was fine, but Yao came back... so there was no spot for him on the active roster.

I am really disappointed at the situation. When the rockets first signed Bonzi, a career 12/5 player, I thought the team finally find a reliable and proven 3rd scorer which will help the team get over the hump and even win the championship!

Bonzi maybe slow, turnover prone and play no defense but he is a scorer and rebounder and i think his passing is underrated! I just dont get this 8-man rotation sh*t. To me, rotation shouldnt be fixed and it should base on matchups and in game situations! We still got one month/15 games to go, everything can still work out but it looks like JVG have completely given up on Bonzi. Of cos JVG may know or see something we, fans, dont know!

Instead of Bonzi, now the team has a career 38% FGM player as a third scorer! :(
