It's doubly sad when the hate occurs on the team's top fan site. I'm tired of it and I vote for boot'n them (not that I get a vote...)
Especially when it involves one of our players being injured. It's ridiculous and has gotten completely out of hand.
Tmac's Chinese site has more than 60,000 members, which i think is bigger than this site. Do not like what JVG said in this article. Hope he can make some ajustments and make some right decisions! Wish Chuck and Hayes recover asap!
Hate to say it but the haterade on Yao from most around the NBA (media, coaches, players) is cultural and probably even racial. It is a hard pill to swallow that a Chinese guy is dominating the NBA. Amare has not made everyone on the Suns better, hell they went further in the playoffs WITHOUT him yet the media were/are talking about him like he is a legend already. Same with E. Brand, dude has been on losing teams his entire career, then makes the playoffs ONE time b/c of winners like Cassell and others but they jump all over his bandwagon. Give me a break and props to JVG for stepping up for his team/players!
While a very few vocalize some extremely negative and spiteful comments about coach & players, it is just as bad or sometimes worse when someone posts a comment voicing just an opinion with no hate and some person on the other side comes back with just the most vile comments about the poster and the opinions. Come on people on all sides - WE ALL LOVE THE ROCKETS - if you disagree then say you disagree but it is not the end of the world when someone posts something you disagree with. And I agree JVG is certainly not without sin. He has a mouth and he uses it. Now JVG, since circumstances finally forced you to find out that Billy can play in the NBA, can we get a little taste of Novak from time to time and see if he can actually hit those 3's in the 4Q? And I wish every player on the Rockets played at Yao's level - we would go 82-0!!!
did Steve embrace Yao or anyone else before/after the game? did he exchange Super Bowl plans with JVG?
I don't hate...it's just something that would make our team better...I hate p*****s and unloyalty, the biggest reason I approve of JVG is his loyalty, you could never go wrong with a guy who has your back any day....but his stubborness makes me crazy, I mean you gotta give it up sometimes...
Van Gundy said that it's baffling how people are hating on Yao. This was probably in response to a press conference question. What Van Gundy do wrong? What did he say wrong? Part of "worrying about coaching basketball" is attending the post-game press conferences. Van Gundy did that, he was asked a question, and he said the same thing 90% of us would say--the calling out of Yao is bizarre. If we're grumpy about every word that comes out of Van Gundy's mouth--positive or negative--it's going to be a long, painful season.
Hate? Hatred of Yao? Coach ... Dude ... Are you watching the same 180 we're watching among the TV commentators about Yao? Are you expecting a Hallmark card? This is as 180 as they get. Are you under the impression the fans here are harder on their team than New Yorkers are? Are you even aware of what's being said on this board? This is the most positive early-season fan reaction I've seen here in years. And the team has earned it. Relax.
I don't see how this is relevant to the article... Anywho, I wonder what JVG thinks about this BBS site criticizing him. He's probably not as baffled about that though..
I am not a HUGE of Jeff Van Gundy, but dang it, that man is funny. I love the little barb he threw i about the NBA office. Classic. His is kinda like MArk Cuban minus the style.
