Please lock if already posted, thanks. http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2010/07/a_stat_of_something_in_new_yor.html From Feigen's blog: [rquoter]For the Rockets so far, the waiting remains the hardest part. If that seems like nothing new, that's because — maddening as it is — that's how things have gone. The word that keeps coming this way, and from a variety of directions, is that "nothing has changed." The Rockets have been told they are among the teams Chris Bosh is considering, but it is unclear how much to make of that. The message last week from agent Henry Thomas that they are "on his radar" still seems to resonate as a warning that they are just a backup option for him. That Thomas seemed to characterize Morey's meeting with Bosh as if Morey was the UPS guy dropping off a package did not inspire a whole lot of optimism in the offices at LaBranch and Polk. From the start, the Rockets had the framework of a sign-and-trade in place with the Raptors, according to a person with knowledge of the talks. It was a two-for-one deal, though I'm not sure if a pick would be in there, too (seems like it would be.) Bosh, another individual said, is attracted to the Rockets' global stage (apparently, he's not shy), definitely wants to play the four and likes the idea of playing Yao Ming. None of that has changed since I wrote all that last Thursday, but so far little else has either. There has been no movement in the Rockets direction. They did not get one of those Chicago sit-downs, and even Bosh characterized those meetings, rather than the midnight get-together in Dallas, as the start of the process. Still, they could make an end run around the long weekend of meeting and tweeting that seemed to exclude them. If LeBron James returns to Cleveland and Dwyane Wade goes back to Miami, Bosh would still have options, but could not team with them in Chicago. And he might have to consider a contract to fit into Chicago's cap room, rather than the richer sign-and-trade contract. All the talk about the Raptors' issues with a sign-and-trade still seems to be about their reluctance to accept Luol Deng's contract. Bosh could go there one way or another, anyway. He could join Wade in Miami. But the Rockets would seem able to at least compete with those options. It might be exactly as the Rockets were led to believe, that they are among those considered. For now, Bosh is not offering many clues to anyone. His tweets have become relatively infrequent, and about how he spent the holiday weekend. With done deals in Atlanta and New York, however, a few dominoes have fallen. The big ones might be ready to go next — and soon. • • • Not a lot of action on the backup plan front. The dinner meeting with Brad Miller sets up a next step, but that won't happen until there is resolution on the Bosh plan. The Rockets could try to enter the David Lee talks, but again, they have put little more than due diligence in on that. (Lee and Miller share the same agent.) Miller might fit in easily regardless, but when things shake out, the Rockets are more likely to seek a trade with teams needing to move a contract than to crowd a roster they like with a free agent not very different from the players they already have. Morey said shortly after the season that he believes teams make mistakes when they overreact in free agency, taking away the chance to make trades later. If he doesn't get the move he wants, he'd have to decide the next option is better than the one that could come later.[/rquoter]
Personally, I am done with Bosh and his desires/wishes. I will assume we are being used as leverage and he has no intention of playing here. If come next week there is a presser with Bosh holding up a #4 jersey then I will be pleasantly surprised.
Sounds to me that if it were up to Bosh, he wouldn't come here. But, a combination of his greed for the super-max contract and Toronto's for the best S&T might still land him here. Of course, that means we'd pay more than anyone else would have.
Probably because there is no new info. There is one juicy tidbit though. The sign and trade offer we had on the table for Bosh was a "two-for-one" deal. We can probably rule out Yao and Martin being involved. And probably not scola due to base-year-compensation and sign and trade issues. That means in order to match salaries, we were offering two out of Battier, Jeffries, and Ariza. Plus picks and whatnot. No other "two-for-one" deals would work salary-wise.
I'll bet anything that the Rockets will make a trade before the summer is over for this guy: Post your "do not want" pics and the like...just a gut feeling.
I think that about sums it up quite well. Well, it's not as if this would be the first time something like this has happened ...
Well it does say the framework of our deal was two players and probably a pick. There were concerns about whether that rumored Scola/Battier/Ariza package included all 3 players. I would say that is new clarifying information.
Can he still play at a high level? Didn't he have a really bad knee injury not too long ago? There has to be some reason the TWolves want to get rid of him. You don't just get rid of a 20-10 guy for no reason.
If your David Kahn, you need no reason. Dude has some red flags for sure but still very much productive. I don't think it would cost an arm and a leg to get this guy and, while expensive, he wouldn't cost anywhere near a max deal.
They got Spoiler this guy.Al & Love dont mesh that well. Though certainly you could be right. Something could be wrong.
I am not anxiously waiting anymore. They killed the buzz already. I am already excited about watching the Rockets go into the season with Brooks, Martin, Yao, Scola, and Ariza. Cant really worry about what other teams below us do when you have such a good team already. its almost like we have nothing to lose no matter how this turns out.
In that case, Ariza and Battier. The two guys under contract. Scola still has to sign and then also agree to the trade if he's included.
Don't forget that trade exception Rockets have for $3mil and some change. I could be wrong, but with the trade exception, salaries don't have to exactly match.....?
Rockets must know something about Patrick Patterson that we haven't seen yet.... Budinger ready to start?
