Hmmm, another of Casserly's signings, half expect that linebacker Morlon Greenwood which was another Cass free agent signings to be ousted once a viable replacement pops up.

Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, new regime is just cleaning out old regime's crap.

The Houston Texans waived right tackle Todd Wade and linebackers Fred Brock and Terry Pierce today.

The 6-8, 314-pound Wade started nine games last season before tearing ligaments in his right knee on Nov. 13 against Indianapolis. He was placed on injured reserve in Week 11.

The Texans signed Wade as unrestricted free agent March 3, 2004. Wade played his first for seasons with the Dolphins, starting 63 games and three in the plaoyffs. Miami drafted Wade in the second round (53rd overall) in the 2000 draft.

Brock, a 6-foot-4, 242-pound rookie from Texas Southern, signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent on May 8. The San Antonio native finished his TSU career with 187 tackles and 12 sacks. During his senior year at TSU, he played in 11 games and fnished the season with 79 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

The 6-1, 245-pound Pierce was waived by the Denver Broncos in September 2005 and hasn't played since. He appeared in 15 games in 2004, making three tackles on special teams and two on defense. Pierce, a second round pick by Denver in the 2003 draft out of Kansas State, saw the 2003 season cut short by injury. Pierce was a three-year starter at Kansas State. He had 216 tackles, 146 solos and eight sacks.

Wade has no lateral speed, which made him a liability.

    No surprise.

Wade wasn't the greatest at pass blocking. He was strong, but not quick.

    Charles/Pitts/Flanagan/McKinney/Weigert

With Wand and Spencer backing up the tackles.

Not baffling at all. We are changing to an ever more "pure" zone-blocking where the OL must be highly mobile and able to hit their secondary blocks quickly. Wade, as our biggest and slowest lineman, is gone.

By the midway point of this season, I expect the OL to look like:

    Spencer/Pitts/Flanagan/McKinney/Wiegert

And by the end of the season:

    Spencer/Pitts/Flanagan/Wiegert/Winston

Its sad to see my friend Brock waived...He was really excited about the opportunity to earn a spot on the team. His size is enormous and his speed was very impressive, i think one day he will find his way into this league and make an impact.
