http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/7255859.html I looked them up. All cut before the season by the Panthers. Damione is the only one with real experience. Tank Tyler was on the same DL with Mario @ NC State.
Did Adalius Thomas sign anywhere yet? I know he is an older player but wasn't he a middle LB with the Ravens and Pats?
Nope, he's still a free agent. Couldn't be any worse than those no-namers they brought in for workouts. I'd prefer they try to make a trade for someone instead of signing any free agents. We're not that far away from being legitimate contenders. Just need a couple pieces here and there, as well as a new defensive coordinator/better coaching in general, and I think we'll be in the mix. There's just so much parity right now that things can swing our way if we make the right moves/decisions. Let's hope that they don't screw things up and ruin our window of opportunity.
Adalius Thomas has never played in a 4-3 defense and he never played MLB. He was an outside linebacker with the Ravens with they had Ray Lewis and Bart Scott inside. He also was an outside linebacker for the Pats. He is 33 years old and probably done at this point.
By the way guys like Bart Scott, Adalius Thomas, and Edgerton Hartwell should give huge royalty checks to Ray Lewis. All of them got huge contracts because of Ray Lewis and once they left the Ravens, they sucked.
Texans bring in Schobel when he was released and in shape, move Smith inside, and this isn't even an issue. Great job keeping those purse strings tight.
It can't hurt though - you never know when you'll find a random gem. Arian Foster was that type of player, wasn't he? Random practice squad signee that panned out. And New Orleans was signing cornerbacks off the streets all last year when they kept suffering injuries, I think?
That picture reminds me of Jeff Zgonina. Which brings up the point - if we're working out these scrubs, why not just bring back Zgonina? he's always been solid against the run. I'd take him over Frank Okam, even in his mid-40's or whatever he is now.
I'm pretty sure Foster didn't bounce around though, he was a high profile prospect at one point who had a bad senior year, he came straight to the Texans after the draft and we never let him go. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these sound like guys who could never latch on with a team after a few years, not guys who "slipped through the cracks" of the draft because of circumstance.
You know what, I was going to make a lame sarcastic remark about "Yeah that's what i'm talking about! Championship!" But...At least they realize DT has been a problem.
