Sura undergoes knee surgery By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle Rockets guard Bob Sura had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday, but with no further surgery needed on his sore back, the Rockets have to hope that playing without so much knee pain will allow him to move more freely and cause fewer back problems. "The cartilage on the end was pretty chewed up," Rockets trainer Keith Jones said. "(The injuries) were unrelated, but Bobby was in a lot of pain the second half of the year." Rockets center Yao Ming might not be headed to ankle surgery after all. The procedure had been planned for most of the season, but the latest medical opinion this past week indicated rehabilitation would suffice. David Wesley could be heading to arthroscopic knee surgery, but that hasn't been decided. Forward Juwan Howard, rehabilitating a knee injury, has been cleared to step up the running, but he will see a cardiologist this week to determine when he can resume workouts. Howard has not been permitted to exert himself since he suffered a viral infection in his heart in March. Chron Link
Bob, isnt gonna have his back fixed... or he already did and now they are just getting around to doing his knee??
Considering that Wesley's expiring contract is the most desireable expiring contract we currently have, hopefully they decide on/or not having surgery soon. Teams will be leery of dealing for him with his status up in the air.
Well, he had surgery on it last offseason and then sort of reaggravated it over the all-star break. This article seems to imply that the reaggravation was related to the knee injury; I guess it affected his stride and put undue stress on the back.
Hopefully Sura can get some needed rest and come back and play like he did before the All-star break. I wonder if Yao not having surgery means that he will spend less time here in the U.S and maybe go to China earlier than planned.
from Deuce: The news about Wesley surprised me too. I've said it before, but Wesley really wore down before the reg. season ended. I wonder if he ws in more discomfort than we realized. But know 'scopes' are not really considered a big deal unless there was a significant injury.
