well i disagree. i dont generally trust the american general public for great taste in movies, books, music, or art. and it looks like i can group you into that.

so you walk down the street or drive and jam out to some baha men. and see how many people will flat out laugh at you. you know why??? because most of that kind of crap music has about a 6 month shelf life because its annoying, it sucks, and it has no substance.

 

Most of the Rolling Stones' songs are pretty annoying...

 

this list is odd becuase all of those are huge hits. Any song that is played all day everyday gets annoying.

Where is the song that goes... Wooo hooo over the guitar. Man I want to punch that woman in the neck and then kick her in the bread basket.

 

Definitely do not agree with Black Eyed Peas and James Blunt being on there... even if you don't like them or those songs it's not even in the same league as Aqua or Eifel 65 or Chumbawamba. Closing Time is decent enough to not be there as is Meatloaf's song. My Heart Will Go On is on there because of the unwanted hate geared toward Titanic. And Nickelback doesn't deserve to be there if Creed isn't (there music didn't hold up well at all)

And how can you have a most annoying list and not have Achey Breaky Heart on there?!

• 16. Meatloaf, I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) - should not be on the list
• 19. Semisonic, Closing Time - should not be on the list
• 20. Wham!, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go - should not be on the list
I don't have a problem admitting that the songs that are guilty pleasures are annoying but no way in hell is Meat Loaf's song as well as Semisonic or Wham! on this list. There are so many more annoying songs out there; the 90's and the 00's have infinitely more annoying songs than anything from the '80s. And yes, "What's Up" by the 4 Non Blondes should have been on this list.

 

I agree with most every song on there except for Semisonic being on there doesn't make any sense. I never found Closing Time annoying. I don't find My Humps annoying at all. The Celine Dion song for Titanic should be #1 - UNBEARABLE.

the most annoying ever was that Huey Lewis/Gwyneth Paltrow song.

 

Do you like Huey Lewis and the news? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour.

 

How is "girls just want to have fun" not on the list?

 

80's he was good. When he teamed up with Gwyneth Paltrow, that was bad. And that movie was even worse. A Karoake Hustler...

This, for me, is the post of the year. Hands down...

 

I completely agree with you. But the opposite is also true: just because it's popular and played on the radio doesn't mean it's bad, either. I agree that Clear Channel has put us in a place where anything that comes on the radio is automatically suspect.

But, quite frankly, there's some pretty crappy music out there that gets critically acclaimed just because it's "indie".

Personally, I'll stick with Pink Floyd. "Meddle" never gets old.

This list is certainly an accurate representation of what the respondents felt was the most annoying song. As I have said many times, music is art, and art is subjective. None of the songs on the list are objectively annoying or bad, it is in the eye of the beholder (or ear of the listener, in this case).
