It looks like the ball is in JVG's court. I think he has the confidence of his best players, which might encourage him to stay. And there might be some reluctance from management to get a new coach.

If JVG stays, will fans leave this team and root for the team Rick Adelman joins - kind of like how Vince Young fans continue to spite the Texans and are now Titans fans?

What is the deal with Rick Adelman? Why does everyone like him so much?

Getting rid of JVG I understand and agree with.

JVG is real good as a sort of off-beat color man on the TV.

No? Rick Adelman has no ties to Houston or Texas for that matter. With that said, I'd love for him to be our coach. I think JVG is a great coach, but I'd rather see an improved offense than #1 defense.

A fair enough take. But I absolutely couldn't disagree more from reading that article.

JVG does talk out of both sides of his mouth, and I respect him for doing so because in the coaching profession you'd be a fool not to do so, and JVG will never be a fool for anybody or any thing.

If JVG isn't worried about job security (we know he's wealthy) then why would he tell reporters his wife tells him not to play rookies? His sense of humor? No, he's angling for a hefty parting bonus (he does deserve something) and Rockets management desperately doesn't want to have to fire him.

JVG will get what he wants, but there's no way it's the team exercising the last year option on his contract.

Every JVG zealot here should rejoice, he'll get what he wants and then he'll leave at the expense of the egg on the face of our organization. He is that good.

oh, no. Please leave, Jeff. You are a great coach but I just don't want to see your style of basketball anymore. Please, pretty please. Just Leave.

Yes I agree he always says the right thing to the media. But rarely is it based in reality. JVG wants to coach the Rockets desparately. Yet he will never get that opportunity because management understands he is a cancer. Jvg can say what he wants but I will put 100 in the tip jar if JVG it is a Rocket head coach by the beginning of next season.

I do not like the duplicity-I MHO Van Gundy is above this.

I do not think the Rockets Managemement even want him to leave. I still look for him to be extended 3 years- unless he elects to leave.

JVG is in the "cat bird's seat" as Baseball's Red Barber used to say-this is his job to quit if he so chooses......

I agree. WIht two gifted offence players in team, he did not know how to run any effecient offence, only defence and old in and out.everybody here could coach better. He exposed Rockets' weakest part, and hindered strongest part of Rockets. He single hand took Rocket out of first round. TO him, Camby is more efficient than Yao.

    He should go.

JVG's offense needs good outside shooting for it to function. Also it needs a smart point guard. He has neither of those in Houston. I guarantee that if he had these two things this would be a championship team. Additionally TMac might not be the best fit. He just takes too many ill advised jumpers when games are on the line. A good but not very smart player.

    lol

you are such a JVG groupie, you can't wait until the next "JVG stays" article comes out :D

like OMR, but I will add only a $10 bill if he stays, and keep my mouth shut for few months

... unless one of those guys doesn't think he's being well-coached, in which case I bench him or get rid of him.

You are what your record says you are, Jeff.

Four years of stinking basketball and two game 7 losses seem still not enough for JVG and JVG lovers. Geez.

JVG, your boss does not like you. please go already.

JVG's lovers should at least show some guts and take on OMR's bet and say they will put 100 in the tip jar if JVG will not be the head coach next season.

Any JVG lovers will show up?
