"We'll definitely pick up his option. He is worth more with his option picked up, and he is a part of our plans for the future." -- Morey

Translation: We increase his trade value, and he is part of our future plan to trade him.

    Good move, Morey.

Good news and hopefully Luther can crack the rotation and show us more game!

Damn I forgot about Snyder until someone mentioned him and I completely forgot about Head as well. With all the buzz around James, Francis, and Scola it's hard to fathom how deep and talented we really are. It's gonna be a great season! :D

I hope they don't trade him down the line. I like him, something just tells me there's more to him than just a 3pt shot.

This should be interesting. Head occasionally has flashes of an athletic, slashing style of play, but that sort of thing didn't show up that often because of the way JVG used him. Maybe Adelman will unleash the beast!

Yay! I love Luther (except when he didn't show up in the playoffs).

My feeling is that Morey is trying to give Adelman as many different looks as possible for how he wants to sculpt his rotation out. When the time comes, we will have some people getting more PT and some people on the outside looking in, and Morey can't know beforehand how Adelman and the players themselves will react to the new system.

Personally, I have the same mindset in all the sports that young, high-ceiling players be given the chance over declining vets, so hopefully that means that, out of Snyder, Head, and Brooks, we see one guy really come into his own this year; probably at the expense of Rafer/Francis/James. And, with such a surplus of players already struggling to stay in the NBA, my gut feeling is that a trade won't materialize, and we'll just have to eat someone's salary for the sake of team chemistry and better use of playing time.

i think it's more likely he moved up to the nba where lot's of players are quick and athletic, and he doesn't have the ball handling or step to get around them. if he does get by them he either doesn't have the athleticism or chooses not to use it enough to be effective. yes, i remember him dunking on turiaf, but one play doesn't make him a finisher.

i like luther, but jvg absolutely did not hinder him. he used him to his strength which kept him on the court. he's got the body of a pg with limited dribbling and passing skills but with excellent shooting ability. he's an asset for sure but i'm not going to get carried away thinking he's going to be anything more. he'll probably continue to improve, as he did from year 1 to year 2, but he is what he is.

Man, Daryl Morey is so bad ass.

I take comfort knowing that whatever moves the Rockets make, they won't include a bad contract, a vet on the decline, or an over-anxious stopgap.

Adelman must watch a lot of college basketball... he saw a lot of Brooks and has seen Head quite a bit... he seems to be able to get the most out of guys offensively and limit their negatives.

Head may not have been the perfect player, but he did make a dramatic improvement from his first year to second....he was just an alright 3 point shooter in his first year...but he came back after the summer to become the 4th most accurate 3 point shooter in the league....and we're only paying him barely over a million. Kapono is making way more than that. Snyder's been around longer and he still hasn't shown that much of a dramatic improvement. How long are we going to hope that his flashes of athleticism will pan out? Plus he'll make over 3 million in 2008. I would rather keep Head along with our Francis/James/Brooks back court and just ship out Rafer and Snyder.

Not sure exactly what everyone in this thread is so excited about. They weren't going to not pick up his option and lose him outright.

Luther's good but I hope he can drive more and make better decisions on the court. Now with all new guys the situation would be tougher for him

Looks like I am the only one who remember Luther's terrible ball handling and bad passes.

Luther was said to be the best out of the big 3 at Illinois just he was undersized and his handles werent as good as Deron's... but Luther has hops like crazy his handles are much improved and he is basically imho a gary payton type player w/o the incredible court vision with more hops...
