Rockets Camp Report: Landry draws high praise

    On the floor

Players and coaches have praised the performance and conditioning of Aaron Brooks, Joey Dorsey, Luther Head and Mike Harris. Brent Barry has stood out, shooting especially well on Tuesday and Wednesday. But there have been raves for the fitness and renewed athleticism of Carl Landry, who was a free agent working out on his own in Indianapolis throughout the summer and was not certain to return to the Rockets until they chose to match his offer sheet with the Charlotte Bobcats last week.

“He’s been great,” Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. “He’s in great shape, very active. He’s really picked up from where he left off last year. So far, I don’t see any problems with Carl at all.”

    more here:

got to love Yao's humor once again (in bold). Hayes making the point Scolandry can't guard each other. haha.

Hayes bruised a shoulder running into Artest!!!

Hayes is rock solid so that re-confirms how much a beast Artest is.

Seriously, does anybody still doubt that all Morey was trying to do was drive down Landry's value. I mean the Rockets knew all about the knee and even allowed Carl to take the floor again last season.

Morey's pandering probably kept Carl from being offered a outragous offer overseas.

Yep. Smart move by Morey. Most of the other GMs probably suspected it was a ploy, but if YOU were a GM, would you want to risk a lot of money with that chance hanging over your head?

I'm hoping they over hype one of em up all preseason. Start him the first games of the season and ship em out while his stock is red hot. Ya gotta play the game. The masses won't get it or appreciate this at first, but when we continue winning and have taken in draft pick they will forget.

Would it be crazy to think that Landry could average 11ppg and 6 to 8 rebounds this season?

He could surely do it given around 20+mpg. But you have to expect Scola to take most the minutes at PF this year, so he might not get the time.

I think we will see a lot of Landry and Scola on the floor when Yao sits......

They both will have big years this year.

eleven points and six boards for landry this year. thats what he'll average in around twenty one minutes a night. he is gonna tear it up off the bench.

Luis will start at PF and I think he will also take the majority of backup minutes at C. That means there should be plenty of time for Carl to get on the court at PF, about 22 minutes per game in my estimation.

I'll pencil Carl in for 10 points and 6 rebounds, which is pretty much what Luis gave us last year. And speaking of Luis, I expect about 14 points, 8 rebounds.

Mann if landry can come off the bench with 10/10, shane with his avg. of 7pts and some defensive stops/charge, and barry adding 12pts from his 3's. That right there is already 29 pts from the bench. I always say a team that has a bench who can put up 20 or more is going to win games.

SO what do you guys think Landry and Scola combined would be? I'm going to say they'll average 27ppg and 15 rebounds together.

in the other article at chron.com, Yao is quoted saying "We're even."

not sure if that's what this article was referring to.

Lets just say that between Scola and Landry we could get 25/12.

I say more, at least for rebounds. Scola averaged about 14/9 after he became a starter.
