http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/barron/5189945.html Channel 20 gets Rockets Although in sharply reduced form, the Rockets will return this fall to KTXH (Ch. 20), their over-the-air outlet during their 1990s heyday. Channel 20 will carry 13 regular-season Saturday and Sunday games, taking over the package that formerly aired on KNWS (Ch. 51). FSN Houston will air 63 regular-season games and seven exhibition games. Channel 51 owner Doug Johnson said, "It was good to have the games, but it wasn't a big revenue deal for us. ... We would like to have them, but (the Rockets) have to do what they have to do." Johnson expects to hear by Thanksgiving whether Channel 51 will retain over-the-air Astros games.
woot! i hated when they left "20 Vision", i think UPN's reason was because they were getting to "big" for our town because of Buffy and other shows getting higher ratings than Rockets games. 55 the Tube was possibly the most horrible station they tried and they agreed as they pulled it from them after i believe like 10 games. I do have fond memories of 51 tho, the year where the Rockets/FSN were in legal battles to air the any of the games and 51 stepped up and showed all of the games and had the midnight replays, at least FSN has the midnight replays now
channel 51 had all those crazy commercials that looked like they were made before the prohibition era.
This is a way bigger deal than y'all are making this out to be. Like Blaqnitti said, this is karma. This is special. This is huge. I now believe again. Its time.
After I installed an old fashioned atenna to get OTA HDTV, Ch 51 looked great for me. So what I realized was Ch 51 only looked like crap on Time Warner. Either 51 or 20 is fine with me cause that means I'll be able to watch in HD for FREE. Sweet! I can't get FSN in HD.
I still remember the intros to the paramount 20 telecasts back in our championship years. Those were the good old days. Does anyone still have a tape of that they could upload? Also, does anyone remember the name of the halftime guy before Lisa Malosky came in? He was there for our first championship and I remember them saying that he was going to work for the Hawks.
Yea baby! Back on 20 Vision, thanks for mentioning the name again, it's been a long time since I'd thought about it. I can remember watching Astros games on 20 Vision as a kid in College Station, did they also show the Rockets? I'm not sure if we picked it up via our antenna or via the cable company package. After 20 Vision, it changed to Home Sports Entertainment, right? And from there to Fox SW? Hmmm... maybe I'm confusing 2 channels...
ha, naw, 20 Vision is basically "My 20" is today, formally UPN 20. HSE was the cable channel the home game were on. Back in the days, all the road games were on basic channels, in this case 20 Vision, and all the home games were on HSE (Home Sports Entertainment)/Prime Sports/Fox Sports Southwest. Hell, I remember the days when the home playoff games were on PPV @ $30/game, thank god they dont do that anymore.
