I can't find the link for this (not sure if they post the starting lineups on the web), but in the newspaper version they do a preview of each game with starters for both teams.

    vs Utah, they have

    Yao - Okur
    Battier - Boozer
    TMac - Kirilenko
    Novac - Harpring
    Alston - D. Williams

Nowhere else in the paper do they mention this, and JVG has said previously that Snyder is the starter. So either this is a misprint or JVG is starting Novac because he can probably gaurd Harpring just fine.

wow....that would be stretching it. I thought I heard Van Gundy say that Snyder was in the line up too. That would be a touch assignment for the rookie.

the way they line them up in the paper might not be the way it plays out. it could be:

    Yao - Boozer
    Novak - Okur
    Battier - Kirilenko
    TMac - Harpring
    Alston - Williams

JVG said plainly Snyder is the starter so the article is probably wrong. Either way, a slow start means Snyder gets yanked early and Novak comes in.

    NOVAC?

Not only did they incorrectly name him as a starter, but they misspelled his name? :)

    Snyder is starting.

Novak against a player like harping could play the 2 guard and be somewhat effective. however, i see alot of switching Between him & tracy @SG and SF spot. personally i rather see snyder start because he can really attack harper. harping would be in foul trouble trying to cover snyder.

I think Okur would be harder to guard for him then Harpring, almost. Okur played well against us last year, but he had his worse game in the one Yao played fully. I'm sure JVG is concerned about OKur pulling Yao from under the basket, but I don't think it is that big of a deal. It'd be nice if Yao got him into foul trouble early, too (especially instead of vice-versa).

In either case, I don't think Novak starts. I think Yao guards Okur and Battier guards Boozer to start.

You haven't heard about our new Romanian shooting guard, Novac? Dude is built like a fire hydrant but has no shooting touch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Mobley a 2nd round pick?

I would have to guess that Snyder is starting, not Novak. But I would love to see Novak getting the start! I'm not a Snyder hater at all, but I just want Novak to get his chances to hit those 3's. He's gonna be the best 3 point shooter on the team and we need him on the floor.

would rather have snyder starting since if both him and bonzi were to come of the bench it lowers the versatility of the bench players we have. sure snyder and bonzi can play sf but we already have two guys that can play sf better. i would like to see novak come in and get around 20 mins of game time but for him to start right now? i dont know but i am not the coach of this team

Great call. First pick of the second round in 1970, Calvin is head and shoulders above any other 2nd round pick of the Rockets, with a friendly nod to Cat, and an equal thought along the lines of DD, and many others around here, that we got the steal of the draft in Novak.

Van Gundy is a great interview!
