Does anyone else think that Mt.Mutumbo might have his head up in the clouds a bit on this one? I was thrilled when he helped whip up on Seattle in the playoffs in 93, but face it, he was only a Nugget for five years. Also, didn't he say something similar after the Philadelphia game too? ...after being there even less time?

Sorry if this is a dumb thread, I just want to think of something other than the Rockets' play lately. :(

I don't. he's one of the best defensive players of all time. the majority of his career / accolades came in denver. his jersey should be retired somewhere, and probably not in houston -- though I would like to see him win a title with us before he retires.

Hell, the Rockets should retire number fifty five in honor of that 1994 series. If Denver doesn't knock out Seattle, Houston doesn't get to the Finals.

He helped us by knocking out Seattle. His number should be retired here. For all his humanitarian effort, his jersey should be retired in every team he has every played on.

I'll never forget the feeling when the Nuggets won game 5 in Seattle. When the Sonics went down, I thought nobody could beat us. (Then we had Choke City which turned into Clutch City).

IMO, cradling that ball after the final buzzer was Deke's finest NBA moment.

Man, they came so close to upsetting Utah in the very next round, too...

Came from being down 0-3... tied it 3-3... then lost game 7.

That would have been easily the best and most historic playoff run EVER to this day if they had managed to pull of that game seven.

Indeed great def. player and I think should be more active as a leader of this team,at least as some who guides younger players.

Deke is great and his humanitarian work is outstanding...but isn't it just a little arrogant to tell someone to retire your number?

12.9 ppg. How I wish we could have that now...

I hope this year isn't to Mutombo what 2005-2006 was to Jon Barry.

Wherever Mutombo has been, his jersey should be retired there because his effort are great, and he always gave 100%

Wanted to be a doctor to help people in his homeland....instead he picked up a basketball to build a hospital.
