somebody should as mchale why thomas robinson is getting minutes ahead of terrence jones. i thought he was an old school coach who wanted players to "earn" playing time. Why is a rookie who just got here and doesnt fit the system getting playing time ahead of a rookie who has been here the entire season and actually fits the system and has 3pt range?
Wanna know another move that made us worse in the short-term? Trading Lowry for the Toronto pick. It'd be nice to make the playoffs this year, and I expect us to. Getting a second star is more important. Maybe Robinson will eventually be that player, maybe we'll trade him for that player, maybe the trade won't end up working out in the short-term or the long-term. But quit acting like it was an indefensible move.
What I don't get is that McHale used to be a GM so I'd expect him to understand DM's methods more than other coaches out there... Granted, his job is made more difficult by constant player turnover which can lead to frustration, but his GM experience should temper that. What it tells me is that he really doesn't agree with some of the moves DM makes and that he thinks Patterson may have been a championship caliber role player. I think DM is making the right moves - always replacing rookie-scale contracts close to expiry with fresher rookie contracts. Makes sense on this team. There is no rush to make the playoffs this season even though that was the goal. You have to admit that making the playoffs is simply a bonus for this year's roster. If this happens next year, then I would also be annoyed like Carl Herrera. This year, the trade was the right move.
I'm also tired of the revolving door of players. But I think that's Morey's way and McHale is going to have to get used to it for his own sake. This is a fulfillment of what Clutchfans wants, ironically. If a player isn't a championship caliber first-team all-star, he should be traded until we get one. That's how you win a championship... right? How many thousands of times have we seen a thread expressing a variant of that idea?
That was an offseason move, made when the team was determined to blow up the roster. The recent moves are made in the middle of the team trying to make the playoffs with what is largely its new young cast of core guys.
It's natural for him to say that. If we lose, he can blame Morey's move. If he applauds the move now, there's no excuse later.
Well if we've learned anything from history, you'll be gone Coach Mac. Not saying it's at that point but...
McHale will most likely be gone either after this season or next season. There's clearly a rift between him and Daryl.
We were still a fringe playoff team when we decided to blow up the roster in the offseason. We were a fringe playoff team at the trade deadline. The organizational goal of eventually putting the team in position to win a championship is the same.
McHale is such a wuss. Sounds like he wanted to settle for mediocrity and just "for sure" make it into the playoffs with the current rotation he already had this year. Well guess what McHale you F'd that up last year when you had a chance to help get that team to the playoffs and choked losing I don't know how many games in a row to end the season. Lowry doesn't like you, Lin doesn't like you and Kevin Martin doesn't like you. As far as I see it McHale can just shut F up or GTFO!
