Confidence is a good thing. Over confidence is a killer. Resting his body is always a good thing. Only time will tell. Hope for the best.
I think it is similar to some MLB players not playing in spring training games. They probably spend the first 2-3 weeks of the season getting in game shape. I'm OK with him avoiding injury in the preseason. Tune up in the last two preseason games and be done with it.
makes no sense to come back for completely worthless games if your not 100%. I'd rather the rockets start slow and finish healthy and strong than start fast and finish tired and injured.
feigan titled the article as if tmac didn't want to practice at all. all he said was that he was still cautious with his injuries.
Yea and it looked pretty bad to. The only thing that scares me about Tracy missing the preseason is that when the real season starts he may not be in game shape and will look pretty loss out there on the court. But Tracy knows his body better than me so I hope and pray that he's right if he does miss the whole preseason.
Personally, I don't think McGrady needs to play any playoff games... just think of what happened to Antawn Jamison yesterday...
i'm more worried about the other players looking lost when tmacs on the court...not tmac looking lost
Just in case AntiSonic sticks his p***y in here to bash Tmac, he (Tmac) isn't saying he doesn't need it or he's just lazy (he can be lazy in respect sometimes, but not in this case). I bet my house that Jamison's recent injury is a major factor in his tentativeness to come back too prematurely, especially since this is only the preseason. Plus, we all know Tmac has a history of starting the season off slowly anyways, so he still needs a couple of games into the season to "warm up." (or slow down)
Thats a great point I didn't think of it that way, but you are right. Either way this can be a bad thing, but I'm hoping for the best outcome we can have from this. I want all of our players to be on the same page for the first game of the season so we can get off to a great start like Boston did last year.
said he doesnt need the preseason but would like to play in a game or two. chances are he probably will play in one of the last two games in limited time. i really wouldnt want to open the season with tmac out there for the first time with artest i would like to see how they would play together first before then. if shane is back and shane is the starter then not as big of a deal if tmac doesnt play in any of the preseason. either way no need for him to play right now if his trainers and doctors feel that strengthening exercises for his knee is the better way to go right now before playing in a game
The good thing about this year is that even if Tracy goes down for a considerable amount of time, we'd still manage. Artest will fill right in the void, and we'd still have Barry and Head, not to mention Mike Harris backing the wing. We're just too good this year.
Few people in the mainstream media are pro-McGrady. It's a massive bandwagon effect. Feigen is far from the worst, though. Blindbury easily gets that Mr. Anti-McGrady title over him. Regardless, I don't like the title of Feigen's article. I'm pretty sure he twisted the meaning and took it out of context so he could get some attention. My general issue with Feigen's work is that it is too happy doody and most often lacks any real substance. For a guy that has been covering basketball as long as he has, he still doesn't know ****. The only benefit of his endless positive spin on things is that it balances out Blindbury's constant cynicism.
