LeBron and Duncan to play. LINK •Houston Rockets scoring machine Tracy McGrady is holding a celebrity softball tournament July 30 at the Big League Dreams sports complex off Interstate 45 in League City. Unlike some "celebrity events" where you get people like the local weatherman (or me), McGrady's softball tourney has real stars like NBA sensation LeBron James, MVP Tim Duncan, Carmelo Anthony, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison, plus a bunch of McGrady's teammates from the Rockets. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and younger. You can buy them by clicking on www.toyotacentertix.com or calling 866-446-8849. If you or your company wants to join the Rockets in sponsoring the event, call Linda Mackay of the Sports Dream Foundation at 801-350-9086. Proceeds will go toward the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and the Tracy McGrady Foundation. This will be McGrady's first big fund-raiser in his new hometown. He's sold his house in Orlando and is living full time in Houston.
Does anyone have any idea what to expect from such a thing, it sounds like it'd be pretty fun, I was thinking I'd like to check it out, maybe take the girlfriend down there.
I've seen Tracy at least 5 times being driven around his Maybach. Each time I see him, I'm still like, "Oh my gosh, it's TMac!!!"
Rocket press release says these are the celebrities that will be in attendance: Carmelo Anthony Chucky Atkins Jon Barry Nick Cannon Clyde Drexler T.J. Ford Luther Head Grant Hill LeBron James Antawn Jamison Damon Jones Stephon Marbury Tracy McGrady Mike Miller Warren Moon Moochie Norris Allen Payne J.R. Smith Bob Sura Stromile Swift (OH YEAH!) Larenz Tate Tim Thomas George Tinlsey Nick Van Exel Jeff Van Gundy David Wesley
Thats a impressive list. Nice to see Swift and Head. That means Head is probley staying in Houston right now working with the JVG.
Hope no one hurts themselves ala Lance Berkman's church football fiasco. Great to hear that t-mac sold his orlando home and is serious about possibly retiring here as well.
I'm kinda surprised Mike James isn't on that list. And considering NVE is on there, I'm surprised Damon isn't, as well.
I thought it was common knowledge that Damon can't hit; he's just got that "slower" reaction time than most others. And I'd imagine watching JVG at the plate would be something like seeing a cross between Chuck Knoblauch (last few years) and George Costanza. Not to be picky or anything, but why no women on the list? If it's because they would complain about this and that, then it's not fair. Although it might explain why Steve isn't listed...
