Lucas is back John Lucas III will be a Rockets player again, though for how long is uncertain. Lucas, who starred at Bellaire and Oklahoma State before a stint with the Rockets last season, has agreed to play for the Rockets' summer league team in Las Vegas next month. Most of the other commit-ments could change, as is often the case with summer league teams, but Rockets forward Chuck Hayes will play in Las Vegas. Former Oklahoma guard Hollis Price seems set. The Rockets' first- and second-round picks are expected to play. The big attraction in Las Vegas, however, is expected to be Suns forward Amare Stoudemire, who hopes to use a few games to gauge progress in his comeback. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/3999562.html
The one name I don't see that I would like to see is V-Span. Maybe it will happen but probably not. I am assuming that the Rockets have more pressing concerns with the draft right now and maybe after that will talk to him but who knows.
I don't know, did the really contribute that much in the games he played? Also, he is undersized so that's a disadvantage off the bat right there.
He's a known commodity, though, and will be someone to fall back on if the draft and/or free agency doesn't yield depth at point guard. I think our draft will yield a 2/3 guard, possibly with pg skills.
While I hope Amare comes back ok, I can't help but have ill feelings from him changing his jersey number to #1. After Phoenix's run in the playoffs, doing well without him, he's going to remind everyone that he's their "best player". Seems cocky to me. I can't wait for Yao to stuff him.
JL III would not be a bad backup PG behind Rafer Alston if nothing better comes along. He played ok for us last year and added some energy off the bench by pushing the ball when he was on the floor. He is a bit undersized but as a backup with limited minutes it should be ok, and he has good quickness to help offset his height setbacks.
JLIII -- would he get this many opportunities w/ Houston if his father did not have connections w/ the organization? Not a fan of Stoudamire's.
JLIII is a good point guard and a good shooter. He is just too small, if he could bulk up ala Westley and still keep his quickness he might make it.
That was against Charlotte. That was probably the game of our sorry Year even though we lost. Double OT with Luther and JLIII both hitting clutch shots in the waning seconds of regulation and OT.
I really liked JL3 and was pretty disappointed when we cut him. He's obviously undersized but the kid brings a lot of energy off the bench and I think he is good enough to be our 3rd string PG.
Hollis Price can really shoot the ball. Weakness at OU was he couldn't play PG. Hopefully last 3 years in Europe helped him be a better PG.
