http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6920348.html Talks about Lowry... he's in pain but will play. this stood out as well: Coach wants a wing man Rockets coach Rick Adelman said his team could use a perimeter player and might want to recall Jermaine Taylor from the NBA Development League just a day after he was assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for a third time this season. But general manager Daryl Morey said no move is imminent. “We talked about that,” Adelman said. “I would like to look at that, especially at that spot. We're going to have to look at what we're going to do with Jermaine, too. We sent him down there, but we're really short-handed.” seems like there is a possible disagreement on Taylor playing in the D league. Why would Morey send him there when the Coach seems to think otherwise?
I wonder why we are short of wing players? We have Battier, Martin, Ariza, and Chase? If anything, we need another PG for injured Lowry?
Why are they letting him play with a busted ankle? Playing with a limp wheel makes you much more injury prone.
There are only around 15 games left. We're 5 games behind Portland. We seem to lose every game Lowry doesn't play. If we fail to make the playoffs, he'll have the entire off season to rest his ankle.
nothing major, but this was also in the article With guard Kevin Martin also out on Thursday — he was sent home with a cold — the Rockets went through just a short, light practice. They are not expected to have a full one until March 28 or 29.
That explains Adelman wanting Taylor back. Martin may not play, or may not play very much, depending on how he feels.
my wild speculation: Adelman wants the playoffs. Morey wants the lottery pick. So far, Morey gets the upper hand. The team is heading to the lottery quietly.
If it was earlier in the season, I'd agree, but we really need him now if we have any intention of making a push (which, obviously, we do).
Why do we all the sudden NEED JT when he's barely seen the court all season even through all our injuries? Maybe they want to give him buds minutes to develop him a little while they can this season?
Lowry played some 2 the last game. With him injured and limited the coach must feel Battier and Budinger aren't the answer when Martin is out.
yeah i think that's it...adelman means shorthanded for practice. I've heard him say something similar earlier this year and he was refering to having enough guys to practice. And I remember Morey being high on letting players play somewhere in order to keep improving, so Morey may want JT down with the Vipers to get a lot of in-game playing time instead of warming the bench.
