http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2011/02/rockets_bring_back_brooks_but.html Gundy is a class act and a true leader. I hope he retires as a Rocket.
As a native Houstonian, as someone who was born living in Sunnyside, and just as a damn human being, I love me some Jeff Van Gundy.
I heard in one game JVG kept referencing that name, something like "That's what I call Pro-Vision!" when I think Pau made a jumpshot or something, to which Mark Jackson was like "What?!?"
Absolutely. Dour attitude, self-deprecating humor, Samsonite luggage under the eyes, dogged, detail oriented approach and all. Let's not hijack this thread and turn it into a JVG v Adelman debate. This is about our former coach continuing to contribute to the Houston community, and I could not be prouder to have JVG as a continuing Houston resident. Sunnyside is still a troubled area financially and socio politically. I applaud any effort to support and uplift the neighborhood.
We are lucky that one of the best coaches around could be our fallback if our current coach leaves. That's a huge luxury to have a good coach loyal to his favourite team.
JVG is never afraid to jump into a tough situation <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/slGmTABZtZ8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I totally agree. It is not accident that Chicago Bulls coach is successful coming from JVG tree. JVG is still amongst us and I hope Rockets gives him another chance, if this Adelman experiment don't work.
JVG is a tease making himself look good by being active in the community...Shoot! Makes me wish he was coaching the Rockets
He was talking about the same thing on FOX 26 yesterday http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/local/110211-former-rockets-coach-champions-cause
